hello awesome rpf members
i'm working with another guy on this prop and we are having one heck of a time finding the keypad to this
download

if you can find one that looks like that please post a link or tell us how to get it. we're trying for screen accurate and its really hard to find with the backwards numbers and white and gray color scheme. we are told the original came out of a box of electronics so it is out there some where. finding the right name-brand or what it came off of is the key....we just haven't found it yet.

thanks for your time

yeah i was thinking if worse comes to worse we may have to put one on that fits then have a vinyl print out over top of it to make it accurate.

thank you for your post!

keep em coming kids :)

The whole thing reminds me of the kind of lock you would have on a small safe. The rectangular doodad at the bottom would light up red indicating the safe was unlocked.

interesting idea.....we've been searching under number pads, keypads, key pad membranes, kids toys, and calculators.

we got the actual prop prototype from member hms mike...he told us the keypad came out of a bin at a place called all electronics out of california.

the search continues:cool

The case reminds me of an old phone I used to have in the '90s, but I don't think that it is an exact match. Top and bottom would have been reversed and the bottom slid out to reveal the number pad.
The keypad here is obviously not from a telephone, because the low numbers are on the bottom.

It also reminds me of these keypads they use on gas pumps made by Dresser Wayne.

There are plenty of places that print custom membrane keypad overlays too, maybe you could approach one and get them made to the same specs?

I know that I've seen this model keypad before and I want to say that it was for an alarm system from the 90's. I'll see if I can track anything down on it for you and if I find something then I'll be sure to post a link immediately.

The "backward numbers" is a 10-key configuration used for calculators, adding machines, cash registers, the number pad on a computer keyboard, etc., so I'm guessing it might a modded old 4 function calculator with a red LED readout??

Quick google and ebay search didn't turn up anything exact, but some "similars"

......maybe a more involved search would yield better results??

thanks for all the help guys we're getting pretty close...its only a matter of time before some one stumbles upon it.

:) the hunt continues

I wouldn't get hung up on the numbers being backwards. It's totally possible that the prop department took the thing apart and switched the little number pads around. Definitely looks like an old cordless phone or something.

Well, I went a little nuts on this research gig and still came up bust. Spent well over three hours over the past few days pouring over old alarm/security system, safe, and communications equipment and haven't been able to locate it. On the flip side, every sponsored ad that I see while surfing the internet is now trying to sell me a safe or alarm system!

Best wishes for success as the hunt continues! =)
