hi guys,

i may buy one of the new neca preds, but cant decide which one to get so i though i would let you decide for me.

what one do you think is better and why

4 versions of one predator???? that has got to be a record of some sorts.... if they looked some what good i would get them all, but seriously whats up with that pose?

I'm gonna say that the unmasked one is better, it comes with an extra hand and way more accessories, plus the face looks really good on it. Only thing that irks me is that it seems NECA made the face in two different pieces top/bottom portion.

The paint job isn't really top notch either and I have to agree the the articulation is horrible. Nonetheless the figure looks pretty good, enough for me to buy the masked version and I'll pick up the unmasked version soon as well.

thanks for your help, i may go for the masked one though, well still cant decide but probably masked so i can repaint it

Well, I just opened one of my unmasked versions, and I gotta say... WHAT THE ****???

First off, the whip keeps coming apart! Hardly any articulation! One of the shoulder casters is already starting to "rip" off (there are two articulation points on the cannons, and the one nearst the cannon wont move... I almost ripped it off thinking it WAS moving, but the ******* thing was coming away from the cannon...GRRR!), and that really sucks ass. So, I had to just quit trying to get a good pose out of it, and put it away. I dont know, the damn head has like two seperate pieces, and the paint doesnt match up... re-tar-ded!!! These are some cool "looking" figures, but Im going to have to try and modify them with my limited painting skills (wish I knew how to airbrush).
So,all in all, if I was giving these figures a rating on 1-10... I would have to go with a 3.75 due to the limited articulation, the probability of pieces "ripping" off, and the paint scheme. Not pleased! Maybe NECA should have done a little better job on insuring that these figures would be "solid", and not proned to easy breakage. DAMN IT!!! :D :)

Yea, that's what I was talking about in my earlier response to this thread. I don't know why in the hell NECA decided to make the face as two separate parts, that's pretty dumb if you ask me, no clue as to what their reasoning was though.

Regarding the cannon, the cannon that came with my masked version did come apart but it was a bendy 'plug' joint that popped right back in. You might want to use the boil and freeze method to loosen up any joints. Basically run the figure under hot water at whatever joint is a problem and then freeze it for like 5 minutes. Should be good.

The paint and posing aren't exactly top notch IMHO.

thanks guys, dont sound that great but i will still be getting the masked version, i will try not to play with it :)

From what I've seen of predator action figures, unmasked predator's faces always comes in two parts. All of the head including the eyes and where the nose would be, and in a separate piece the mandibles. I'm including McFarlane's Predators as well as Hot Toys. It probably has something to do with molds and such. I don't know why Neca decided to split the face in the most obvious part of the face.

Yeah, I will try the boil, and freeze method (hopefully it wont break off the cannon when I try to get it to bend at the point of where the cannon and arm meet). Thank you sir for the advise.

I wont do this until I get my new pad though, for I am in the process of buying a home for my family. Thank you.

Finally got my NECA AVP:R Series 2 figs today.

This series features the Wolf Pred in masked and unmasked versions.

NECA really has done a fantastic job with these figures. While not as poseable as some would have liked, I'm not a big fan of huge amounts of points of articulation in a figure.

These have just enough poa's to get a few really cool poses. They also come with a great bunch of accessories. The whip and the converting plasma cannon/plasma pistols are my favs.

The only big drawback on these would be the obvious seam line in the head of the unmasked Pred and the bio helm/armor color difference in the masked version.

But, they really are just damn cool figs. Can't wait for the "roaring" version of the Wolf in series 3.

On to the pics...

Terrible paint, limited articulation and a seam running down his forehead? jeeeeesh. NECA really dropped the ball on these figures...It's just stealth for me...and he's staying packaged.

I was really dis-satisfied with the way these figures do not have the poseability of the McF PREDATOR 2 figure. I know you cant really compare the two companies, but McF did alot more with the articulation in there 2nd, and 3rd line of PREDATORS than what NECA has done. Im not saying I dont like the NECA WOLF, but c'mon... they couldve at least made them a little more poseable, and articulated (thats just my opinion, and Im entitled to it).

The hell with articulation, McFarlane's keep tumbling over because of loose joints, besides sacrificing accuracy for poseability...

6 inch scale, they're pretty much in scale with the McFarlane figures.

In regard to posing and loose joints on the McFarlane ones, my NECA Wolf falls over every couple of hours. In fact he fell down like an hour ago in the display case and he's still laying there. I should go stand him up so he can do the same thing in a couple hours.
