Narnia Turkish Delight Box

I've been trying to make as many props from the Narnia series for my kids to enjoy as they get older. I stumbled across this silver lid in a thrift store, and it totally reminded me of the lid for the container that holds the Turkish Delight that Edmond eats.

I got this glass bowl that fits the shape pretty well

Painted it

I did paint just on the outside, and leaving it glass on the inside gave it a very icy/crystalline look, which is great considering it comes from the White Witch!
So here are both together.

Now to make some Turkish delight!

Took a strip of mohogany and cut it into 8 bits. or bites ;-)

Painted pink to get that rose coloured/flavoured look

Spray adhesive + corn starch gives it the powdered sugar look.

Some tissue paper and all done!

Awesome job! This series is what got me initially curious about the actual turkish delights candy which I am now addicted to. Seeing your work now makes me want to go out and buy some for Christmas. Looks great with the flute next to it too. For a little more realism, at least to the actual candy, you could put a little adhesive in the bottom area of the tissue paper and put some corn starch on there as well. Most turkish delight will have a thick layer of powdered sugar in the bottom of the box it's in.

will do! Thanks

Nice bowl.

Just an FYI, Liberty Orchards Fruit Delights and Liberty Orchards Aplets and Cotlets are pretty much the same thing as Turkish Delight (though the size of them might be off from the movie, lol)... in case you want to actually use your container to hold a similar food.

^THIS^ happened to me as well. Saw it in the film, now I LOVE it, but I only keep it around for Xmas time (it makes it more special, & helps keep me from getting fat. :p).
