Hello,
I just added a LIFE SIZE Martian from WAR OF THE WORLDS.
This 3 legged guy
(or is it a girl?) is amazing... :confused

About 5' feet tall and 3' feet wide..
I have never seen one of these ever.. Simply Brilliant work. :thumbsup :D

I plan to hang the Warship from the ceiling over head of this for the display.
Hope you like it. This is without doubt one of my favorite movies of all time.

Thanks for peeking. :thumbsup
Tom

Here's the original in the film

I think in the book they "budded" so maybe "it" is appropriate.

First time I saw that thing I freaked and ran and slid across the kitchen floor and grabbed my Mom's leg.

Still creepy.

Though I wonder now if maybe it was the one good martian and was just trying to communicate and help the humans stop the invasion... but Ann Robinson freaks and then WHACK. poor guy, or it. Probably figured ahh forget the whole thing then. Wipe 'em out.

Great creature.

Thats very cool ...
Whats the story behind it ?
What was it made for ?

I agree, we need details... It is an incredible piece.

It was made by a Hollywood master for his living room.
His love and passion for the film was the drive to make this.

It IS from the house scene where all heck breaks loose.
The Martain that touches the leading ladies shoulder and she screams.

Then this guy ran away.
(insert explosions and end of the world) :lol

It was made 20 years ago and now, as of yesterday resides
in my collection. :D It's about 5' feet tall and 3 feet wide. The sucktion cup fingers and attention to ever vein and detail are amazing.

Not sure what to do about the pole up his butt tho?
Ideas?? :confused

Thanks for peeking and the kind words. :thumbsup
Tom

Wow. :eek

That is great and a wonderful addition to your collection Tom.

Paint the pole and base flat black.

You don't have to ask if I like it... :D

Looks fantastic, and can't wait to see the pics of the warship.

Very well done. The shadowing and skin detail are top notch. One thing that also surpised me was the Martian's legs...I never realized it had 3 legs. :eek

I've read that when designing the Droideka in Phantom Menae they went with three legs to look more alien. On a TRUE alien the three legs are totally creepy.

Based on the eye colors -- Red, Green, Blue (RGB) -- now we know how color TV was introduced, and at the time it came about.

That is absolutely stunning- I have one but not of that quality- For comparison, a softfoam sculpt based on the original (6 leg) design-

Mine is one of my favorite props but yours is definitely prettier and spot on moviewise-

Subject of another thread but I have been looking long and hard for a probe eye (lit)- Has anyone tackled it yet?

Incredibly nice score man- Very very cool-

Doc

Edit- Just saw the thread on the probe eye- Thanks..

Doc, Thanks for the kind words...

I must say yours looks great... I have never seen a six legged one.

I will trade you anything in my entire collection for the Robby in the back ground. (Is it a FRED?)

Always love your collection.
Wish you lived closer.
Tom

'50's scifi is always great to see. And in such an amazing looking figure to boot.

I'd go with the earlier suggestion of painting the base black.

Man those martians are so much better looking than the Speilberg versions. His tripods were great, but seeing the martians pretty much ruined the movie for me.

Still one of my favorite movies as well (the George Pal version that is)...before Lucas there was Pal.

Some sick collections you guys have there. VERY NICE.

GREAT prop......but you know something??
Up until I saw this, I never knew they had a mouth

COOOOOOL

(Mind you, the more I look at it, the more the red part of the eye looks like a big, red nose...and the dark parts look like he's wearing aviator sunglasses)
