My TOS Enterprise Build

looks spot on sir, good job

I want to see someone do an aztec paint job on the ToS Enterprise oneday tho, bet that would look good.

Awesome work Captain Solo!!!!!!!!!!!:cool The lighting makes it look so real just like the TOS I watched and loved in years gone by.

Your composit photography looks as good as the movies, I love it!!!!!!!!!!:love

Have you ever seen the PE made by ParaGrafix? ParaGrafix™ Modeling Systems
Paul Bodensiek makes some great stuf for Star Trek and many other science fiction model kits as well.

Thanks for the kind words sir!

Yes, I am well aware of the Photo Etch by Paragrafx. Outstanding quality to be sure. I have used them on all my Irwin Allen build ups. However, having elected to do this build with the Shuttle Bay doors closed, I didn't really see the need for the use of the Photo Etch set.

Very nicely done!!! It seems to have just the right look IMHO.

Thank you very much indeed sir!

I really wanted to capture the feel and weight of the actual Filming miniature as she appeared in those glory days back in 1966.

A couple of pics showing the rotating fans and lighting of the nacell end caps.
Again, I can't say enough about the Round 2/Polar Lights Lighting kit AND the Enterprise kit itself.

Wow! Awesome work there, Captain Solo! You did a helluva job on both the Refit E and the TOS E :)

I'm actually planning out putting together my own 1/350 TOS E, and was wondering just what you did to adjust the lighting to better match the scale?

I take it the LEDs are a little too bright as-is, and so need to be toned down a bit?

Thanks for the kind words sir. Yes the lighting needs a little toneing down to get the correct scale effect. I sanded the windows slightly and frosted both sides with several coats of clear flat...does the trick. Round 2 really gives you your mony's worth with the lighting kit.

Enjoy your build, I look forward to seeing pictures of it.

Oh, good. I was afraid you'd done some fine-tuning to the electronics, and I'm all thumbs when it comes to that, lol. So, just sanding/frosting the windows is a far better technique for me to try.

Btw, what brand of flat clear coat did you use? And did you use it as a clear coat for the entire model? I've been out of the model building scene for over a decade, so I've never tried anything like this before.

Oh, and I'm already enjoying my build. Been taking a good look at the Paragrafix PE set pieces (I want to do a lit bridge and shuttlebay), figuring out just how I want to put the finer pieces together.

Nothing to show as yet, since I'm still in the planning stages, but it's exciting nonetheless. I'll definitely be sure to post a WiP thread when I'm ready.

I really enjoy this model. It photographs beautifully from all angels.

I really like this model. Round 2 captured the filming model...to me anyway,...

The weathering on your project is awesome. I've seen builds where the rust strip/ring is too strong. Your weathering is subtle. What color did you use for the hull? I see in your post that it's a custom mix.

I'll be honest, I've never been a fan of the original Enterprise. Always more a refit guy, myself. But this awesome build is making me reconsider. I might need to pick up this kit.
