My return to the Grail Diary - work in progress

I last made a diary back in 2008 (which was based on CWV's printable story diary). CWV's printable diary was a great base for a story diary, but I've always wanted to make a hero diary. I was under no illusion that I can hand write an entire diary; my handwriting is so fugly that the diary would turn out to be more ramblings of a mental case rather than Henry Jones Sr. So I decided to shelve the diary project, with a view of reworking the pages at a later date, specifically, when I have acquired some further skills with graphic editing software required to make and compile such pages.

It is now approaching the tail end of 2012 and I have decided to reacquaint myself with this old friend. Thanks to the numerous info which has come to light in recent years on the actual pages and the contributions of Indy Magnoli and Holt in Club Obi-wan on the subject thereof, I began to compile the pages that would make up the signatures of the diary.

I've been familiarizing myself with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, so using the reference pics, I tweaked some of the available graphics and redrew some others. I also used the JonesSr handwriting font which I thought looked way better and more realistic than the Henry Jones 3 font and worked on the pages in AI and once done, I compiled them in Acrobat.

I printed out the pages on off-white/ivory 100gsm paper (same paper I'm using for my Nine Gates) on a laser printer, cut them to size and folded them into signatures. Here's how they look like after cutting:

And here they are after some good ole' coffee and tea weathering.

I found some nice calf-skin leather recently so will be binding these pages soon. Hope to update this thread with pics of the bound book in the near future. :)

That is amazing work. It makes me want to do exactly the same. The last grail diary I made was back in 09 and it was a hero diary, but my book binding, photoshop, and page weathering skills were all terrible back then. Inspiring.

Well done Kal :) Congratulation, the pages really looking very, very good.

Keep going. Looking forward to see the pics of the finished Hero-Diary :)

Hi, great work, really. But I want to try and make one myself but cant seem to be able to make(or get) a blank diary like you make....would you sell a blank diary? How Much?

Excellent work, kalkamel... I need to know what is the "band" you use to hold the diary... I need one for a similar project, a vampire hunter diary... ;-)
Sorry for my crappy english...
