My Mr Fusion Project

Picked the parts up from the laser cutter today, sorted and started to glue them. I used Weldon #3, a water thin clear solvent that dissolves a very thin layer of the surface of each part and fuses them together once it evaporates. Really toxic, nasty stuff, but works really well.

next will be some sanding to make sure the parts all fit together, then a layer of bondo to smooth it all out.

Had a day off today, so gave this a bit of a sand.

I am kind of thinking that I should have PEP'd this thing :rolleyes

Yep. I am gonna cheat on the base and send that part off to a machine shop to be turned. As for the top, just plug away bit by bit and this might be ready by the end of the year :)

How cool is this? I asked JFCustom if he could unfold Mr.Fusion as a PEP and today I got this attached to an email :) Thanks JF :)

Apparently I didn't mix in enough hardener as this didn't set and I had to scrap it all off and start over.

So re-applied fresh bog and after a few hours of sanding, I now have a part that is almost ready.

Still need to do a heap of work on the top parts.

I have not done anything on this for ever, so thought I'd better do some work today. This is where I am at now.

Really not happy with my 'rounding' of the edges, so I'll have to re-think how I am going to do that.
