My lastest Stargate SG-1 acquisition: Piece of outer ring

Here's my latest addition. I put a ruler up next to it for size reference so anyone needing dimensions for their modeling projects could get them more accurately than just analyzing screen grabs.

It came from Legends. Was just good timing, I knew they were getting ready to list a bunch of stuff after GABIT, & I caught it on the website almost immediately after it was listed... In fact Angie delayed shipping it to me because the frame got damaged at GABIT & they had it redone before sending it out to me. From what I understood they only got 2 of these sections in. One was autographed & auctioned last year, I had been keeping my eyes out for this 2nd one to get listed so I'ed have pieces of the Inner, Middle glyph ring, & Outer ring.

Cool! I have one request: would it be possible to take a photo showing the side of the piece? Nailing the cross-section of all the details has always been difficult. Thanks!

Here's a pic of it from the side and I used a profile gauge on it and rough drew in the detail locations. It is bowed due to the way its mounted & the bow starts at the double split arch details, but you should have no problem printing the scanned profile gauge image and figuring the angle of the short section (w/ the rectangle details) that's towards the inner ring.

Excellent. Thanks so much. :)

I am wondering, though, are you sure the curvature of the piece is caused by the mounting process and isn't how it actually looks? It's always looked to me in the gate room, when the gate is lit from straight above, like there have been some highlights and shadows along the area that you're saying is bowed which would be difficult to account for if the gate were flat in that area:

Thoughts? Or am I just seeing things?

You can see the sponge under the piece in the side shot. It is exerting some pressure to the piece. Exactly how much, I couldn't say with out pulling it off the frame mounting. But if I put pressure on the frame from the back, the piece flexes some at the 1st v groove that is the base line the Arch details come up from before the inner edge lifts off the frame mat.

Also, I'm 99% sure due to the paint colors this outer ring piece is a piece of the Off World Static Gate. It matches a small piece of the inner ring that I have from Legends that is framed/mounted & that cert says its the off world gate.... (The cert for this outer ring piece just says 'piece of the stargate signed by Richard Dean Anderson). As such, it would have been exposed to the outside elements & moved/transported around so it could be bowed & out of wack to what the SGC gate is. This could be why Legends got the segment, it had some damage & the studio replaced it.... damaged segment was sent to Legends and they cut it down to size that didn't have major noticeable damage. So even if I unmounted it, it may not go back to its proper shape.

Heck if I remember right, one of the bonus featurette's said something about the original gate from the Russel movie was left outside for years and was damaged/warped. They pulled molds off it the best they could, cleaned things up, reverse engineered it/repaired it, & made the new gate for SG-1 (& in the process canabalized the mechanicals & updated them for the moving glyph ring). So if the warp is correct it could be due to that.
