My K9

Pretty far along on my build. I already started fiberglass over the weekend. It will eventually have some basic RC control over the locomotion and head / antenna. I hope to build some sort of micro controller setup where I can use some sort of infrared remote to trigger specific phrases and things.

That cat knows it is just going to get chased by the mechanical dog when you are through!

Looks fairly K9 shaped, so far!
:D

oh yea. her and her sister are. It's on.

that's what they get for biting my feet @ 3am anyway. lol.

I was going to build one of these for a friend once too, never did get around to it though. Good luck with the build, hope you get some cool RC action going!

Many, many times in building it I had to sit there and i was like "It didn't look that big on the show". Of course the lore is that the original was powered by wheel chair motors, so it really must have been that big. The plans I got were supposedly taken off of the original. I dont question that though as there's a couple people that frequent the tardis builders board that work for the BBC.

I just realized you're a "local" RPF'er!
No wheelchair parts around here, but if you need something to help the build, please drop a line. K-9 is one of my favorites!:love
Cheers, Jeff

Very cool. I got in on the tail end of making one of these back in high school(1984). I like that you are doing your own work. I hope this inspires people to take on their own projects.

I noticed that you were in Sarasota and went back and filled in my location as I recall seeing quite a few locals or Floridians anyway on here. There's actually a guy building a TARDIS in Valrico (east of Tampa) right now.

With the fiberglass and it'll be light weight, so I'm going to be using slightly upgraded RC parts. So thankfully I wont need to source any wheel chair parts.

I dont think i need any help at this point, but if your in this part of town and want to stop by and take a look a it, feel free to drop me a line! Under my son's most diligent encouragement, he wants me to build a Dalek next. I have plans to build one using a similar method.

That's the joy of it to me really. Learning, building and doing.

Anyone one in the tampa area want my unfinished k9? it's partially finished in fiberglass and I'll give you whatever supplies I have left. You make the drive, throw in a 6 pack, shoot the **** for a while and it's yours.

It turned into a spring break project that went out of control.. although I really enjoyed laying out the plans and doing the foamboard.

ABSOLUTELY!
I just spent Sunday cleaning out my workshop, so there's actually room!
I'm amazed you'd give him up, but you'd always have visitation rights!
I'll drop you a PM later.
Cheers, Jeff
