Ok crew, this is your captain speaking.... ha ha. But seriously, while some "Jack's" were out playing with hats and drinking tea, I adorned the sword and did a little swashbuckling...here are the best of the best from my last photoshoot Friday night.

Of course I want your honest and critical eyes - and I welcome all comments, THAT SAID, please say at least one nice thing before you lay into me....

The first thing I noticed was how faded my makeup looks. I used my wife's girl-y makeup, so it's just normal bronzer and eyeliner. So today I bought professional costume pirate makeup, so we will see if next time it makes a difference.

I am also wondering if the bandanna is still too red - thoughts?

JAE_1281.jpg

And then there is the cheap mustache.... is it still too bushy and black? If I get a Ms Mazie is it going to be THAT much better?

JAE_1271.jpg

Two with the compass of course...

I like my wristwraps....

JAE_1249.jpg

and my beard....

JAE_1248.jpg

and my belts.....

And yes, I didn't show you my boots because they are still chocolate colored pleather and yes - that is still a plastic sword and costume base baldric.

Here is one at hi-res:

* and I think the photographer brightened everything, because my sash and shirt look only off white, instead of grungy like they do in person, but that just might be a tip to weather them heavier.

On the "to do" list now that I have better makeup

1. leather baldric + scabbard
2. leather boots
3. New metal sword
4. new waistcoat buttons

So what about the rest, let's hear from you. Stuff too high, too low, too thick....

Thanks....

Wow! Looking good! I cant really tell, and this is being really picky...but his hair is more dreaded with each movie and your wig looks relatively loose ( could just be the contrast ). Not that it matters 'cause it looks great regardless, just wanted to put that out there in case you didn't know. :)

My bf has the Ms Mazie facial hair, it's also quite dark...VERY dark brown if not brown-black. It's a little more uneven on the bottom of the 'stache making it look a bit more natural and it's a bit thinner in shape but I wouldn't say it's significantly different than what you've got. Here's a pic if you'd like to see.

The only suggestion I would make is to fade the bandana out some.

You look great though! Congrats on a job well done and good luck with the bits you're still improving. :)

Thanks for the comments -yea my wig is modeled after COTBP which is way more loose....my beard is a Mazie, but my mustache is a rubies mod

I know almost nothing about this costume - but what stands out to me is the mustache and beard are too black - the color is too dark to be natural.

Tone down the patina on that one belt buckle - looks like green/teal plastic.

Other than that - I think it looks great.

one little suggestion, take the bandanna off and leave it in direct sunlight for 2 weeks

i didnt take mine off when i did that, but i kind of like the dark red in the folds, like it had faded while he was wearing it

trust me fading it makes all the difference

and do you have a leather Sheath or are you still using the plastic one

yea, fade the bandanna check - as far as facial hair, I have never seen "brown" but I do think I need a new mustache. The patina on my belt is brighter cause the photographer brightened all the pics....

in real light it looks like this:

but i'd be thankful if anyone knew how to weather it further to tone it down....

SP - yea my scabbard is plastic, but Charles makes them and supposedly ACME sells his with the baldric, so if I ever get enough dough, I gotta keep the $$$ "in the family."

Thanks everyone - yea, I agree my stuff looks weathered in person, but not on enhanced pictures.... just to give you an idea of how "adjusted" these pics are the backdrop behind me is a WHITE sheet....

so if white changed to blue... you can imagine.....

Man...you look great! :thumbsup Keep up the good work, and post more pics when you get your "improvements" completed!

argh, after all the nitpicking....So over all, I need a new head.

JAE_1243xx.jpg

1, weather the bandanna further
2, refold it on the inner diamond point
3, more dreads (ordered)
4, tie hemp on pony tail and closer to base
5, pull bandanna tighter and twist on the sides
6, new makeup - more layers, darker guy-liner (ordered)
7, new mustache

Thanks everyone.

I've already started working on both my belts, and I like the improvements so far....

My sash is fine, for now- I am going to tea stain it again and then in the future just be more aware of how I wrap it.

Not being an expert, the only thing that jumps out at me is something you have already addressed. That moustache...woo.
