Just wanted to post a pic of my recent birthday costume party Indy outfit, and detail the sources – many gleaned from input on this forum - and let you know what I thought of some of the individual parts. FYI, I am 6' 2".
Hat: Lee Keppler fedora: http://www.adventure-supply.com/fedora.htm
Shirt: Tommy Hilfiger via Macys: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=273754&CategoryID=20631&LinkType=EverGreen
Pants: LL Bean: http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/st...922&cat4=502921&shop_method=pp&feat=502922-tn
Shoes: Work America via Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PD5HD2
Bag w/strap, web belt, gun belt, S&W holster, whip holder: Todd’s Costumes: http://www.toddscostumes.com/indy/indiana_jones.htm
Whip: Gus Caicedo: http://purewhips.com/
Gun: Speedytoys.com
Jacket (not shown): Wested bought secondhand from a member here.
Hat: I love it. Fur felt, great color, nice RAIDERS dimensions, tight front pinch RAIDERS bash. Lee Keppler really went out of his way to get this to me for my birthday. $150 shipped.
Shirt: Found this searching the web for military shirts. Took a chance. Good color for TOD or CRUSADE, bit dark for RAIDERS. Had to swap out dark brown buttons for beige ones. THIN cut, but 100% cotton, comfy, looks good. $35 plus shipping, currently on sale for $20.
Pants: Like these a lot, Comfy, dark khaki is a good color. No pleats, but the $124 Orvis officers pinks aren’t pleated, either! $36 shipped.
Shoes: Love ‘em. Were already a good Aldens match, made them even closer by swapping out the laces for dark brown, coloring the stitching, and painting the brass rivets dark brown. $80 shipped.
Accessories: Like the bag, especially after weathering. Do NOT buy the budget strap – it’s not even real leather, doesn’t fit the buckle well, and the rough underside abraded my shirt. Brown web belt: looked good after bleaching and weathering. Gun belt: budget one is very thin leather. Buy one or two sizes larger than your normal waist for the off-the-hip look. Budget S&W holster was actually quite nice, after weathering was even better. Adjustable whip holder’s Velcro is male side towards you – this kind of abraded my pants. After serious weathering, looked good. $135 shipped.
Whip: Gus also went out of his way to get this to me for my birthday. Great guy, great whip for the price. Light tan color, which should darken with use and conditioning. $116 shipped.
Gun: This was a disaster. Never buy anything from speedytoys.com. The item was poorly packed, the gun’s box was obviously not taped closed so everything was rattling around loose in the UPS box. The gun’s paint was chipped, the shells were missing the BB adapters, there was no bullet loader, and the cylinder rarely turned when the trigger was pulled. I’m pretty sure they sent me somebody else’s busted-ass return. When I contacted them about it, they gave me the runaround. So now I hate them a lot. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. $59 down the toilet.
Jacket (not shown): Westeds run small. Size 42 is more like a 40. Definitely cut for a slender build. Love, love, love this jacket. Comfortable as hell.
Overall, I thought the outfit came together really well, and looked pretty accurate. Thanks to all the info folks posted here that made it possible.
Hope this was helpful/interesting.
