My fallout universe props: new items 9-23-2011

I'm slowly plugging away at my display and other props for fallout. I have to get some wood to mount my paper props I found on. This is a wip and finished thread.
Here is an olive for a martini i plan on making for my New Vegas display:

Here is a "iguana bits on a stick" which is actually going to be a refference to Fallout 1 and the human flesh "Iguana Bob" sold in the Hub. I'm going to make and age a note saying that "iguana bits are people" as a reference to Soylent Green just for fun.

I may try again later one with a better paint strategy or if i can find some plastic kabobs like they use in food displays.
I'm going to make a wasteland adventure journal that looks like a traveler in the games would keep (inspired by an Extreme ghostbuster journal i saw on here). I also have a set of dice i need to modify into Vault 21 issued ones like those on the drink coasters they sold as a game promo.
I also have shot glasses and martini/champagne glasses to use for display as soon as i get some clear drying liquid to serve as the drinks. I am thinking of trying white glue.

The olive shockingly turned out better than I thought. Sculpting meat is alot harder than you would think. I may get chinese take out as research next time lol. Though the skin on the meat turned out, hard to believe its textured using part of an xacto handle.

Re: My fallout universe props

I like the way it looks though... you did a great job

Re: My fallout universe props

actually the eyebot's on my things to make list. I just need to get the acryllic dome for it. it shouldn't be too hard as the basic body is only slightly larger than a human head given that they actually designed a helmet made of one. I have the main body and brain for my robobrain. I have to sand the body smooth and mount it to some wood and make the arms and treads and details. You have no idea how hard it is to find the perfect trashcan to make the main body on the sucker. I hate to tell bethesda this but the brains in their robobrains are far larger than a real persons unless the domes and liquid inside makes them look bigger.

ED-E, thats all I'm gonna say...If you know what I'm talking about, you will understand.

Re: My fallout universe props

I'm working on a few myself for FO3 im working on some basic stuff first like jet, buff out, nuka cola some mentats and if i can get my hands on one of those pipboy 3000 from the amazon game ill have one of those modded i'm just not feeling the 200 + price tag when i just want that.

Re: My fallout universe props

lol. I paid 130 shipped for my pipboy and i can't bring myself to cut it open just yet. I wanted to get one of Skruffy's kits on here but xmas shopping and bills hit me. I was thinking of mentats too to go with my other paper props. I'm printing the stuff folks offered online free and i'm going to mount it on blocks of wood. The quality of them aren't the best as they're from in game but after 200 years everything would be faded from age. I need some 12 oz glass coke bottles. I have 8oz ones i'm making into mini nuka colas. If you have an inhaler for asthma jet isn't that hard, you could replace the cartridge with an empty CO2 cart from a bb gun and make a few mods.

Re: My fallout universe props

I bought 2 3.00 journals today to do journals like the GB Extreme one on here. I found some really nice fancy ones but theyr'e too pricey considering there is a chance i'll screw up. I tried finding some vintage ones from the 40s but they're not quite what i needed but i got pics so in a bind i can make a new cover for them. They're both going to be aged and maybe patched up with home tanned deer hide if i can talk my dad into letting me have some scraps. One journal will be a diary of a survivor in this part of PA (80 miles north of Pittsburgh/the pitt and i'm thinking the Commonwealth is in PA too) with sketches, photos, ads and remnants from the dying world. The other will be a diary kept by the vault dweller and chosen one (not canon but who is to say one wasn't kept?). My sketches won't be nearly as good as the ones in the GB journal though as i have on artistic abilities.

Re: My fallout universe props

im not sure if you know this, but when people make food displays for photos, they actually make the food and cover it in resin to preserve and harden it. i think that would be a great technique for you to use with the lizard bits

Re: My fallout universe props

I'd thought of it but i wasn't sure what they used plus I wasn't sure if it would still go bad eventually.

Re: My fallout universe props

I can't wait to see your Robobrain! I always wanted a full size sentry bot, but my house just wouldn't fit one! I have enough fallout props as it is. As for the eyebot, I found the pep file for the eyebot helmet that would make a great base for the build. Looking foward to more of your work.

Re: My fallout universe props

I have to get to work on that thing. I'm not sure about 1:1 scale now that i think about it due to room but i have to see. I can't find the right shaped body. I got so many projects to finish so i buy parts a few at a time. I have quite a few props being 3d modeled then i have to print them out at shapeways so those will take some time.

Re: My fallout universe props

If you got the FO:NV collector's edition then you should definitely use the platinum chip and the other chips in your display :D

Re: My fallout universe props

I have them spread out across the shelf. it's just a matter of getting the right label paper for the cola bottles and paper for the money. I'd still love to find someone good enough at CGI to make a set of coins from the legion i could get made. Plus the chips from the blood money DLC.

Re: My fallout universe props

Yeah. i need to collect some more. I bought some off ebay but they seem pretty easy to make. i need to find some beer drinkers lol. As part of another post apoc display that ties in i'm collectnig tabs off soda cans instead of caps. i wish they still had those pull tabs from the 70s around since they have those in fallout 2. i could probably replicate them.

Re: My fallout universe props

If you go to a homebrew(beer) store you can buy blank soda/beer caps by the bag full.
