Great mod on one of Howards excellent Yodas!

I do think its needs to be weathered more though and hair adding.

What a great sculpt. Yeah, even a little shadowing in the wrinkles and creases would make him look less plastic doll looking. And I'd dirty up his robe a bit too. Looks great so far. :)

I hope you don't mind if I offer a little bit of constructive input?

It's looking good so far, but I would definately lighten up the green you have used on his head, hands and feet - Yoda was pretty pale in ESB. A great base color to start with is Tamiya XF-21 - it's an acrylic so good for this project.

After that, mix some brown acrylic with water and brush it over then head, hands and feet, then dab off the excess with a sponge or old towel. Do the same with a watered down black acrylic mix. Tiny bit of paint, lot of water. That'll weather him and bring out the detail in his features.

For the hair, best I have found is real human hair (ebay) although I have heard of Santa beards being used very effectively...really! Stick the hair on in very small sections at a time with a tiny dab of superglue.

Finally, as others have commented, get those robes weathered! Yoda was a mucky pup. Take them off and drag them round the yard, or alternatively mix some very weak tea / brown acrlic paint (a tiny amount in a lot of water!!) or mud and water in a plant spray bottle and squirt him down with that, for the authentic dagobah grime effect.

Hope this helps a little - looking forward to seeing him finished!

Regards

Al

I have to agree, you need to do highlighting, shading on the skin. His skin wasn't one solid color. He needs paint washes, drybrushing lighter tones, etc to make him look alive. Are you airbrushing? The clothes also need to be weathered up and not new looking as you have there.
Take your time on him, he's fun to paint.

Thanks for your comments.I am going to start to work on it right now.

I´ll post new pics as soon as I finish it.

Thanks again.

Just wanted to post a lighter color for comparison. I don't recall the colors I used, but I know it was a lighter acrylic I may have lightened further. It may look too light in a bottle, but once it's sprayed on it looks better! For mine I had to spray liquid latex with the acrylic mixed in so that likely lightened it further, but I am pleased with the color I ended up with. Of course I splattered some age spots afterwards too, but I wasn't brave enough to airbrush in some shading etc.

Hi Al.Thanks for your help.

Tea with brown acrylic paint?.I have never seen this effect.

Brushed in a plant spary bottle?

Thanks again for the help.
