My Boba Fett suit thru the years- pic heavy

Hey all. I posted this over on TDH, but thought it would be fun to share here as well. :)

I had been doing a little early Spring cleaning and found the very first version of my Fett costume.

Got me to thinking about doing an "evolution of" thread. And it's neat to see where/why you started it in the first place. This suit has gone thru many different incarnations over the last 7 years or so and thought I'd try to look back.

So here goes-

Version 1-('01-02) Had a DP95 helmet and always thought a Fett costume would be sweet, but probably untainable. Down the road I decide to try Boba Fett for Halloween project. -All scratchbuilt/found parts beside the helmet/ammo belt. Built the gaunts, armor- Carboard, sheet aluminum.
-Glanced at reference pics, but not capturing anything accurate. Was for fun.

Version 2-('02-03) Had the bug from the first attempt at my Fett costume. Started researching on Google. Found my way to TDH, started me down a path that would forever change me(and my wallet).
-Also found the 501st and had been accepted with version 2.
-Still had the DP95, new armor(sintra) from Ebay. Modified jumpsuit. Bought inexpensive ammo belt, found Jango gaunts on TDH, modified them.;) Bought jetpack on Ebay. Modified shoes.

Version 3-('04) Upgrades a plenty! Get an MLC bucket, MLC v1 armor, New ROTJ gaunts, and JW boots(which I still use, cuz their the best!)
-Finally start looking at doing accurate weathering and paint.

Version 4-('05-06) Big change! I go the ESB route with my next round of upgrades. Repaint helmet, new armor, scratchbuild ESB blaster(bought greeblies), new jumpsuit, MOW gaunts, new scratch made gloves, new cape, new braids, new ammo pouches.

Version 5-('07) Upgrade on the bucket. I go Sgt Fang. Very pleased with more accurate size. And MLC v2 jetpack. New paint all around for both of these. Pleased with the way they turned out. Bobamaker jumpsuit.

Version 6-('08-09-current) Upgrades on newer MOW gaunts(v2). Aluminum flame thrower. New 99centTaco ammo belt. New paint updates. Fitted jumpsuit better. Updated greeblies on blaster. New chest lights.

And that about does it for now. Version 7 is in the works! New more accurate harness from FettDad, jetpack hooks and some other goodies cookin' up.

I'm so envious!
Did a costume 10 years ago when All I knew about was the Mark Bradley Build your own Fett site and ordered all vac formed pieces from him. back when All I could afford was a DP95

I recently got a Sgt Fang helmet, but I'm having the worst time adjusting the templates to fit it. I want to paint it SOO bad.

That is an awesome progression of a Fett costume.
I know 99centTaco personally and have seen his work first hand for years. It is very very nice.

How did you scratchbuild your blaster?

For the handle, stock and bracket- I layered sintra, cut and pressed together until it was the right thickness/shape.

Trigger/hammer- sintra

Barrel- PVC pipe from home depot, bondo and putty for shaping around hammer

Blaster muzzle/ender- was a replica piece I bought. I didn't make that part.

Scope and brackets- various sizes in brass pipe fittings.

Stock/scope greeblies- were replicas provided by TDH members.

Strap- was leather, cut down and colored.

And that was it I believe. :)

Wow, it looks really really good. Did you have templates or anything?

Nice progression. Good indication of how much time, money and effort go into making an incredible Fett suit. Thanks for sharing...

I did draw up rough templates for the stock, bracket, grip/handle. The sizing is a bit off from the original, but I'm happy with it overall. :)

The sizing doesn't look bad at all. Very impressive work my friend.

BTW I also like how you weathered your armor. Alot of armor looks very pristine, but your armor looks very well weathered. I really like it. What all did you do to it? :thumbsup
