My Bane Mask

First of all, I would like to say thank you to Ericqueen that provided the template for Bane mask and sharing his WIP.
Also demolition that gave me a lot of ideas.

I started the mask by making basic foam template. Test fit on the head, cut off the extra "nose" section.
I used 10mm foam (white) for the nose where 4 hoses are joined.

I bought two set of plastic hoses: 10mm dia. and 13mm dia.
Unfortunately, the nose hoses requires smaller than 10mm dia. and I couldn't find anything smaller.
So I split the hose, wrap around a pencil and wrap electrical tape around it.
In this way, I created much smaller hose. Because of the wrapping, the hose is quite stiff.
I used wooden chopsticks at the end of each hose, so I can stick it and secure it's position in the foam base.

For the hoses on chin, I used 10mm hose. At the edge, I wrap 10mm thick of 2mm foam strips.
Same hose used for the forehead hose.
For the jaw hoses, I use 13mm ones.

I used a big straw and cut it like a diamond shape, so I can make 90 degree (or less than 90 actually) bend.
For extreme bend, I used several smaller bend (or cuts), rather making one big bend.

I used 10mm foam to create the connection on the lower ear parts, and use bottle caps for the rounded thing.

Once everything finished, I painted everything in dull black.

I used silver paint and did dry brushing on the metal parts, and the hoses.
The finished paint is too bright. I wanted to have a gun metal color, instead of silver metal finished.
So a light coat of black paint was applied.

So here it is, enjoy.

I recommend tracing it first on cardboard paper or stock paper, to get general idea on how big it gets.
The critical point is the length of the base, need to match the actual measurement from the back of the behind head to chin. Add 1 in for access.
Since I retraced the original template with coreldraw, I can match up the circumference of my head with the template, before it gets printed out.
The only thing that need trimming is the nose junction. I purposely made it longer, so it can be adjusted.

I didn't like the fact that the mask had a join in the middle, it looks like the mask had been split into two and then joined again.
I placed 2mm foam to cover the splice (actually the whole area between two upper hoses).
If you can make a clean join, this should not be a problem.
