MR Luke V-2 differences

It seems to me that the circuit card on the picture of MR V-2 is different than the actual one you get or that is in the movie. Are they?

I think they match up 100%.... It was the early ref. pictures that had the incorrect Stunt-V3 circuit chip.

Correct?

Correct. The final MR V2 has the correct circuit board - the same circuit board used in the Luke ESB, the same as the screen used ROTJ V2.

I was the one who discovered the correct circuit board and informed MR.

Thanks for straightening MR out before it was too late. :thumbsup I am actually surprised they listened.

So the picture of the V-2 that MR has been presenting this past year is wrong? Isn't that misrepresentation? Was there a correction announced from MR anywhere? If people open it up expecting it to look like the picture they will be confused, if not disappointed. I have seen pictures of the actual MR V-2 and again I am not impressed. Sorry.

Sorry, but i don't see any clear pictures of the circuit card.

They aren't there because I haven't updated the site in years (need to - I know, just too busy).
I discovered the circuit board reference late last summer.
I posted the Parts of Star Wars link for SVTStingRay to see the general differences between the two main sabers.

Luckily the circuit board is exactly the same as the Luke ESB so MR's factory already had the patterns and tooling for it.

They will be disappointed that the circuit board was corrected?
The picture was a prototype. Changes happen.

Why aren't you impressed?
That's exactly what the saber prop looked like. There's nothing wrong with it.
Not impressed - blame the original prop builders.

I guess changes happen, but it just seems like they make it up as they go along. It's not like the prop hasn't been around since the 1980's. I appreciate your research, but it just seems to me that the MR is different than the pictures I have seen, but that's just my vision. But all of the MR sabers seem changed to me. Oh well, just another MR saber I won't buy. Again, I prefer the prop makers version. But that's just me.

The original prop is not around anymore.
The MR was referenced from the last surviving ANH stunt (which came from the same molds as the V2).
Details and differences were determined from photos of the V2.
Also keep in mind MR had better reference than the general public when making their replica.

It's the most accurate Luke V2 replica out there.

I wonder why the original props are gone. You would think that Lucas who knew he would make millions in toys and such would make sure he had the originals. It's hard for me to believe that. Anyway, I think it has been established that MR was not looking for "total screen accuracy" with most of its lightsabers, so its hard for me to trust in their accuracy now with their final product. The MR V-2 probably feels like lead like the others too. I guess I just like the other ones that have been made out there. Sorry.

I disagree on the accuracy remark. In most cases the MR replicas are more accurate than any fan made piece.
This is definitely the case with the V2.

A few main points:
- The MR has the uneven rings like the original (haven't seen a fan made like that yet).
- MR has a clamp lever and all the fan made's have used a bent wire.
- correct circuit board (I think a few fan's have corrected theirs since I made the discovery)

You always seem determined to dislike any MR product purely because they're mass produced.

I cannot remember exactly where I read it, but I am sure somebody posted recently that they had seen the original V2 sitting on the shelf in the Lucasfilm archives amongst all the "clutter", but by this time all the reference material had been sent off for the V2's to be produced, or they had already been made...it may have even been Barry that posted it :confused Sorry to be a bit vague! I'll try to find the thread. The V2 has been a real fave of mine ever since I first saw it on screen. I've studied pretty much every single screen cap and image I could get countless times and I think for once the weathering and look has really been nailed by MR...

can someone post up pic differences between v1 and v2

They are night and day and I love them both. :D

I have NOTHING against mass produced MR sabers. I bought almost EVERY MR lightsaber and was disapointed with each one and sold them all. You must be willing to admit that this is the FIRST time MR wants things to be screen accurate, especially concerning the non-symmetrical rings etc., and it is their last lightsaber made. How ironic! I have been very disapointed before in their screen accuracy and criticized for it. I have seen prop makers make uneven rings, have correct circuit boards and have a lever and not a wire, I have one. I don't wish to argue with you because I "greatly respect" you, let's just agree to disagree. Sorry

Well, I love mine and love most of MR's stuff (bought most and kept it all). I find it very hard to understand Pastor Jedi why you would keep buying items that you were constantly disappointed in? That seems pretty odd to me. Especially considering how much these things cost. And if you can do better you are always free to make your own.

"Hope springs eternal." I was willing to give MR the benefit of the doubt. I lost no money. NOW they claim "screen accuracy?" You see, just because I criticise MR with the obvious I am challenged to make a better one. You miss my point totally. I have made my own and like them better thanks. :redface
