Hello!
We're back at it again, bringing you guys more of our services! Instead of Graflex, we'll be focusing our efforts on the newest 2.0 addition: the MPP.
I'm not sure if you've heard, but Korbanth has been cooking up a batch of MPP 2.0's for some time now, and from the info I've collected he's already pre sold ALL of them! That's 150 MPP's out there that will be in people's hands by September-October (don't quote me on that, that's just what I've read online
). If it's anything like his Graflex run, there will be thousands of them sold by this time next year.
With that being said, I'm not sure how popular that run is over here. I've mostly seen the efforts concentrated over in the FX-Saber forum, but I do know that a lot of members here are actively part of both sites, and since I'm more of an RPF user than FX-Saber, I decided to post this interest thread here. I know the MPP is not nearly as popular as the Graflex, but with the Rogue One movie coming out this year, I'm willing to bet that MPP's are going to sore in popularity.
Alright, enough with the talk. This is what we're looking at doing
Just as we did with our Graflex blade plugs, we're replicating our designs to be as close to the original flash bulb connectors. Accuracy is key, and so is a beautiful hand crafted piece that you can enjoy!
This blade plug being shown was one that I made by hand, reverse engineering the flash bulb connector and using some spare parts and currently sits as a WIP in my Vader saber. This will serve as our proof of concept/prototype, but all in all it's a very simple design and will probably look almost identical to this (but with cleaner cuts and nicer material
) However, these will NOT include the "spring effect" like the real flash bulb connectors do. It's not necessary to design these to be functional connectors, so we're not going to waste your time or our time attempting it.
Here's what the specs are going to be looking like:
Hand machined 1 inch polycarbonate tubing - Frosted white, 1.5 inch length
Hand machined aluminum inner ring - Black
8 mm Stainless Steel Hex Contact - Polished (most likely)
**NOTE** This will be the ONLY option. We are not going to be doing a black tubing version of this run, and we won't be doing different contacts
Pricing
Now this is where we're varying from our last run. On our Graflex run, we ran these off for $18 a pop. While it was a good price, in the end it was a little to low in all honesty for what we paid for in time and material costing (especially with how many options there were for that run!).
This run will be going for a price increase, and will be looking at $25 or $28 dollars per blade plug.
This may drive a lot of people off, but I'll explain why: First off, like I stated heavily in this last run, we're hobbyist: we can only move as fast as our lives allow us to. Not only that, but this is something that we like doing for the community, so every hour put into this project is an our that we take away from friends, family, school and work. Secondly, cost and time: buying all of these materials gets a little expensive, especially since I shell out all of my own personal money for this. In fact, most of the money I earned from this last project is just going towards covering THIS one, so my "earnings" off of this is very slim in reality. Like I said in the end of our last run, I didn't start these runs for the money, but I can't exactly go broke doing this either :$
I'll be leaving this here to let you guys drop your names off for interest. If you enjoyed our last run, then I guarantee you these will please you just as much. If you're here from another site and didn't see our last run and would like to see our quality of work, then click HERE.
Thanks guys! I look forward to hearing from you.
