Motherbox - Definitive Pics?

Hello all.

I have been thinking about making a Motherbox with some electronics in it (like a tricorder, flashing lights etc) and I can't find a definitive pic of a motherbox.

Is there no specific design to them? Were artists just making what they wanted it to look like?

What I'm asking is if anyone has any pics of one.

I have found some, and have some ideas, but if anyone has anything they could add, it would be appreciated.

I did a search, and someone here did make one, but his pics are gone.

I've only read the original Kirby Fourth World stuff and the main Motherbox designs from that are is the one Miracle Man wears on his shoulder and the MotherBox that the forever people carry.

Both are very different in design.

George Perez, when he drew JLA/Avengers, had a motherbox design that I rather liked. I'll upload the picture I have tonight.

I found that pic, thanks for the info.

I think I'll make a 'classic' grey one, from the Fourth World stories.

Well, I was able to find a torrent of the New Gods, with the original Kirby stuff, and it is different in each of the few issues I have seen.

So I guess I'll make my best guess.

There are some good pics to use as a reference, so I'll come up with a combo of all those.

Thanks for the help everyone!

just go the practical way, as if you are really doing a movie prop, comicvine has a good description of the functions Mother Box (comic book object) or you know it by heart. Surely touchscreen is useful, but since the motherbox is sometimes toughly handled, there surely are buttons for the most used functions like the boom tubes. A user interface display is also pactical and you can surely make some rectangular holes (with fine meshes behind) for the mic and it's speaker for the pings.

Just gather lots of motherbox pics and let youself be inspired by the designs of the penciller. I like the concepts of this motherboxes

At this point, I have gone through the pics I can find, and have made a sketch on 'my' motherbox.

Now, I need to redo it in Illustrator, print it, and start cutting styrene.
