MonCal TIE Pilot

You know. I wasn't going to post anything about this piece. But after owning it for a week now, I really have to say a bit about it. I have added some paintwork to it, just the gunmetal details is all. And as I placed it next to one of my own creations, I really begun to to just love the piece. :cool

The details are a bit soft in the face area. But it has been discussed that it could be ordered in a thinner ABS material to bring out that sharper mouth and chin detail. I personal like the idea that when I do drop it, that it will not need major surgery to repair as the plastic is relatively quite strong.

Thumbs up to this piece of work. :thumbsup

..saw that a while ago..I was wodering more about the face plate, that was never adresed

Not to sound like a jerk, but why don't you contact MonCal and ask him yourself instead of phishing for a dead horse on Mr. Stone's thread? Obviously Mr. Stone is proud of the craftmanship, his addition to the helmet and to his personal collection and wanted to share it with others. why ruin his moment?
Sorry Stone, It's a wonderful piece and you should be able to raise it high without any qwalms.

Thats a great looking TIE helmet! Cool to see it side by side with the Vader. The TIE helmet is huge...

that's a great tie bucket you have there. :thumbsup

love the silver strips.:thumbsup

i have a Imperial gunner bucket and i have too say that if i do drop it i believe that the stronger plastic is better way he has gone, and also the amount of padding as well, incase you need to trim a bit out there is still plenty left in there.

It did take a little longer to get it done, but shipping to my door in under 6 days considering i live in Australia from America is so great.

I will go with moncal for the helmet and probably chest armour when i go and do a tie someday.

Yea, the helmet size is in my opinion just about an exact reproduction of the film used. I live about an hour South of MonCal, and am a bit biased of his work as I have seen it all so up close and personal. But yes, I too want his armor and even a chest box kit to complete the costume.

That's a really nice looking helmet.
I'm thinking of ordering the helmet, armour and chest box from MonCal, but just have a question before I go ahead.
The plastic has a sort of semi-gloss look to it. I would prefer to get the finish looking more glossy, so will this polish up with Nouvos?

It would be really difficult to judge a level of gloss from just these photos. The film used versions were not all that glossy either, but the ABS could be buffed up to a higher level of shine if that is really what you wanted.

Love the helmet, although I too would like some better detail. Just looks too soft.

This helmet was done in .90 ABS. If one was done in say .60 Styrene the detail would be sharper. But then it would have to be painted black.
