MonCal Boushh research / progress

I really hope you make it 100% screen accurate, (and that also means size :p)...

People with big heads (like myselt), will always have a Tie pilot helmet to wear :D

Great work Cal ;)

We're going for 100% (plus or minus 2%) ;)

It is definitely a small helmet.... but I don't think a bigger person like me should be wearing it anyway ;) hehe.. I would look funny in this one. Fortunately my wife is exactly the same size Carrie Fisher was at the time so it's good for her :) We do the zam stuff too and we have the same issue with those helmets but people find a way to make them work!

Thanks for the compliments! It is exciting to finally see it started. It's always been one of my absolute favorite costumes and I didn't want to even attempt it until I knew we had as much reference as we could find... which is why it's taken me 8 years to begin :)

Steveo, thanks! I know.. this was a labor of love for you for a long time!
We could possibly offer one or two ;) .. when the time comes.

Made a little more progress.. It's just starting to take some shape.

Those are some awesome reference shots hanging on the wall MonCal, very nice.

I have always maintained that the boushh helmet was smaller than whats currently available to the market, my wife is the same size as CF as well so an appropriate helmet would be nice!

Very nice. Would be great to have an accurate sized version of this helmet for display.

Also very nice reference pics, how did you get these? Also i noticed an inside one. Could you post that pic, would love to see the inside?

yeah post the pics of the ref shots on the wall please- where the hell did you get them?

MonCal - YOU are the best!!!!!!!! Hopefully one day at one of these conventions, I'll get to meet you and thank you personally.

Thanks all!
Photos? I got those from a "friend" :) And that's only a few of them! Sorry... I can't share them any more than I am in these photos.. Come to think of it I probably shouldn't have done that even. I guess I've become the very thing I used to despise on these forums. I used to share everything and all of my discoveries but too many people started taking advantage of me and all of my hard work, taking credit for my discoveries, trying to steal my projects etc..... too bad I guess. If you're going to be around gunslingers eventually you have to start carrying a gun .. a friend once told me!

A little more progress made last night :)

Thats a shame..the photos look amazing.

Helmets coming on nicely however.

Hey maybe you could take a right close up photo of the back section of the helmet, just in front of the picture of the inside!..he he

Just discovered this recently resurrected thread. Wow, MonCal! You've accomplished a remarkable number of major finds! Thank you for sharing the information!

Looking forward now to seeing the helmet and the rest of the costume take shape. With the amount of meticulous research you've done, this is bound to be the most authentic recreation of the Boushh costume we've seen. Bravo! :love

cant really tell but i always thought the disk on the top was not circular in looking down profile....am i right?

Hey MonCal,

Your thread here has gotten me reinvigorated about my own helmet sculpt, so thank you. I can't wait to see your final version.

Steveo

Zorg,
Yeah.. it's definitely oval shaped! :)

Thanks guys.
I don't know how much progress we'll be able to make but we'll try to keep it somewhat steady this time around... as I've been waiting about 8 years to really get it going :)

moncals are different but thank you for these ones. i could really do with that one looking down from the top :unsure

I don't blame MonCal for keeping them to himself, after all the research he has poured into this project, he deserves the right to have the most accurate helmet available. And I'm sure his helmet will be available to us all eventually.

Thanks for the photos. Its one cool helmet isnt it!

Can't wait to finish a replica one.

Keith.

Thanks guys!
Thanks also RKW for posting those other pics again for those who may not have them. I've seen them before ... and they're not the same ones I have on the wall :) .. still awesome to see though!

Tea, thanks for those pics as well. I do believe I have those but I'm not 100% sure so thank you very much for sharing. It can't hurt to have a few more pics. I have discovered more hidden model pieces from a few pics like that :)

There are only a couple greeblies I haven't located that I would still like to find. One is on the strap and is also used on the Endor rebel trooper left chest. The other piece that bugs me is the "scope" / "antennae" whatever it is ;) I'll probably have those machined if I do a handful of helmets ;)

coming along nicely. Hope this project doesn't suffer with the addition of the new armor you're working on as well. :)
