Mister zee Monarch

So I banged most of this out during "Bones" this evening - blocking out the shapes, getting the vibe right - I like the Monarch best when he is in his furious backpedaling mode, after having angered Dr Girlfriend. So he's got that goofy teeth/wide eyed look. The eyebrows are temporary too, just to check placement. After I get the feel down, I'll refine the finish, make a better crown, and check the overall geometry. Dr. Girlfriend will of course be next, and she'll have that "I cannot believe you" look on her face, so they'll look great next to each other.

Looking forward to seeing this finished! I've been on a Venture Bros binge lately in eager anticipation of season three. Keep posting photos as you progress!

What are you sculpting it out of?

I've often toyed with the idea of making a "full size" ceramic Dr. Killinger mask to hang on my office wall. Love that guy and his Magic Murder Bag! :lol

Thanks! The base is Sculpey over tinfoil, and the finishing layers will be Apoxie Sculpt.

Progressing nicely - here's a colorized and expanded preview side by side with the way it looks this evening. I think I got the expression I wanted :)

Looking great!

I did a search for "Venture Bros figures" and was shocked to see that a) there actually was a set of venture Bros action figures made, and b) they are the worst action figures made in the history of toys!

Keep posting the progress!

Great work.
Much needed!

Venture Bros. gets little love for some reason.
I love the show.

Dr. Girlfriends voice. Starting to dig it.
God help me.

Finished the ear pieces, the forehead piece, and roughed out half of the crown and some of the chest. I think a little extra clavicle and partial shoulder armor will give him stability.

For ease of casting, the beard has been separated and a keyed post was made.

See?

Crown looks to be about the right height!

Fantastic!

“I want a QuickTime of my minty fresh entrance posted on my homepage… by tomorrow!!”

Heh.

Well - started the idea on April 22nd, and exactly one month later, i have a finished master :)
