Hey Kids!
I have not had the time or money to work on my larger projects so I have been tinkering around with this little gem.
It all started because I came across a package of two vacuum formed moon surface bases for $7 at Hobby Lobby. I figured I could use them somewhere, somehow. Thats when I noticed the Millenium Falcon that comes with the Hoth hanger Base set from ertl or whoever produced them 20 years ago. It needed a complete re-work but I thought overall it was a great starting point.
I completely removed the side walls and did some work to the mandibles/jaw area. I had to cut out the windows on the cockpit. I then scratch built the side walls, cockpit interior, side escape pods (or docking rings, whatever the hell you call them) and cut off the top turret and spun it 180 degrees and built new guns.
Next I found a battery opertaed 15 LED set of christmas lights that I was able to cram into the ship.
Back to the moon base. I made it fit on a wood base (also from Hobby Lobby) and used "Great Stuff" window sealant to seal the edges to the base.
For such a small model it really came out pretty good. The details ar by no means accurate but I think I did a fair job of it for working this small.
Have a look and enjoy!
and for fun, a 3D shot....
Thanks for looking!
