Maugrim's note (Secret Police) - DONE!

I'm working on Maugrim's note from The Chronicles of Narnia.

I'd like to get some feedback on the paw. The paw is printed on parchment (I'm waiting on the screen-accurate paper to come in) and the photo is shot at a little bit of an angle. Clearly there are multiple versions of this piece, so I'd like to really capture the "feel" of the paw print. Here's mine:

Here are two pics of the on-screen versions:

I would love to give you some constructive criticism, but honestly there is nothing I would change. The version nailed to the board has just a little more "spatter" around the paw print, but I imagine that has more to do with the application of the of the stamp that the stamp itself.

You never cease to impress Juno. I'm very much looking forward to the finished product.

Thanks. :$

My print-out is actually not a stamp, it's painting in Photoshop (thanks for the Wacom, SSDesigner.) I'm hoping that when I print it on the correct paper the ink will run a bit more. I find that tweaking the ink output of my printer can get me some very accurate-looking results when doing calligraphy or other prints.

The calligraphy part of this project was very hard. I can't wait for the paper to come in to do the final.

I don't have the right paper yet, but here is the screenshot next to my test print.

Looks pretty super.
You need to extend the line of the letter T in treason after the thick portion ends.
The words signed and captain need the lettering to be a bit thicker onthe font thickness of some of the lettering. You got it on the fonting of secret police line below, well done.

Fonting? Hehe . . . that's ALL hand-written. I had to redo the word Majesty a million times. But I see what you mean on the CAPTAIN text and the Treason line.

Yep, did the graphics stuff back in the 80's as a job for the University of Toledo before computers were around, know absolutely where your coming from. ;) Doing it by hand back then, we used to term the act of hand creating a font as fonting back then. old geezer talk. :lol
We used to hand draw the lettering when we could and used about $ 5000.00 worth of rub on lettering for campus flyers in the department. Then came the Macs, computerized the whole campus in two years. Still have some layouts from back then, pretty nice stuff for the times.

Yep, know exactly where your coming from.

wow, nice work on the edges too. I don't remember how they pull it off of the wall but if they tear it off you may want to add that detail. with or without that, AWESOME peice. I may have to make my own... magnificent...

Excelent as always. What paper you using?

I read all the books back in the 70's and never thought they would make a movie from it due to the number of creatures. How technoligy changes things.

Without wishing to sound like a broken record, I was lucky enough to go to New Zealand earlier this year and meet Daniel Reeve, who drew these for the film. He opened his portfolio and took out an original (along with maps of Narnia and the battle plan etc).

I've just compared my photograph of his with yours, and you've done an absolutely superb job. There is almost no way to tell the difference. Well done.

Daniel told us he always found it funny that Maugrim could apparently read and write well enough to do the note, but for some reason had to sign with a pawprint. :)

Wow. I have it on my list to buy one of his Bilbo invites. I'm a gifted calligrapher, but I'm betting he's a righty (I'm a lefty). It makes it hell for me to replicate another's calligraphy.

GB -- the paper is some handmade jobby I found online. I actually had to order a bunch of different kinds before I found one I liked. I haven't crumpled it up yet.
