master replicas luke Return of the Jedi lightsaber

I got a Master Replcas Luke ROTJ lightsaber years ago.
It came in its original master replicas box and outer box, but it didn't have an edition number, paperwork or plaque and i can't remember why.

I bought it from a member here, but i can't remember who.

Does anyone know why it would not have the plaque and paperwork. Was it one of the first ones or something? I just can't remember the story behind it.

Thanks,

Keith.

It should have, and probably did to the first buyer. None were sold without them from Master Replicas, certainly not on purpose.

Only the plaque would of had the edition number on it, not the saber itself.

I sold one a few years ago like that, could have been me. The lettering on the bottom were cleaned off to make it look like the movie piece.

It still has the lettering on it, dated 2002.
I just remember there was a reason it had no plaque or paper work and it wasn't that they were lost.

Thanks,

Keith.

Artist Proofs still have plaques. If you're looking to resell it's still just a saber without a plaque which lowers it's value.
I have a plaque-less saber like this myself as well as several Artist Proofs.

All sabers MR sold had separate plaques, including artist proofs, which weren't sold, but rather were given out for a variety of reasons. I have many of them. There was no difference in the sabers either way, and none other than the Elite Luke Jedi ever had the edition number on the saber itself.

There would have been no reason a saber was sold by MR without its papers or plaque, other than a packaging mistake that MR would have been happy to remedy.

Sabers sell all the time without papers and plaques, and plaques, papers and boxes sell individually as well so if you want to make it complete again, you can with some effort.

Luke Jedi sabers were made in the US initially, then China. The ones made in the US are more valuable and you can tell which you have by looking at the hilt end of the saber. If it says Made in China, it's not a US one. As I recall, the first 500 were made here, but as mentioned earlier, since the saber itself isn't actually numbered, it's possible plaques and sabers have mixed as time has gone on.

Just to expand a little on the last bit of Phillip's post regarding the differences between the U.S. and China versions. The first 500 sabers were made in the SD Studios shop, and had a shinier finish when compared to the more "frosted" finish China sabers.
Also, Phillip I believe you meant the pommel end, not "the hilt end".

thanks, yes, the pommel is more precise than the hilt.

Most cases a MR, eFx, etc... items are resold with paperwork, plaques, or other extras is due to two reasons:

  1. The original owner lost/misplaced them.
  2. The original owner did not care about them so he/she sold them off (ebay).

....back from the grave..
I remember reading somewhere that the first 500 sabres, not only had a shinier finish, but also had skinnier ridges on the hilt that were more accurate the hero prop than the thicker ridges on the ones made in China. I can remember thinking.... if this is the case, then why does the Luke Elite version share the thicker grip ridges?? Just one of those little OCD things that stick in a prop fanatics mind for a decade. lol
Can anyone shed some light on this?
