Master Replica Star Wars Force FX Vader Saber Question

Hey guys. So at my work (Pawn Shop) I purchased a Master Replica Force FX Darth Vader light saber for $20, and it came out for sale. Im not sure if I want to purchase it for myself or just sell it here at the shop. I was hoping I could get some honest answers as to its value, monetary and collector. Im relativity new to the prop and movie scene and Im interested in building my collection. However, Im not exactly the biggest Star Wars fan. But if some people who are could chime in and maybe educate me some in what I have sitting here. It works 100% with the lights and sound effects and all that good stuff. Thanks again for taking the time to read this guys.

Here are some pics I took of it on my iPhone.

Well, its worth significantly more than the $20 you paid for it..but I guess the question is how much is the shop selling it for now?

for sure,

hi there, you have episode 5 esb vader saber. it looks to be in very good shape, I see that the display stand is missing or you didn't take a pic of it. I would keep it for 2 reasons, #1 it is the Master reps version, #2 it is not the cheaper mostly plastic Hasbro remake.

Enjoy it, it is relatively sturdy and can take a cosply stunt beating(light contact), only draw back is the sound for impact is just 1 sound :(.

hope I helped you out a bit :)

Are you asking because you want to collect, or because you're trying to figure out how much you can sell it for?

The MR FX sabers originally sold for about $99 to $109. When MR dropped out, they sold the Line to Hasbro. Hasbro still makes them the same (not talking about the toy ultimate fx). These days the price for that item new at places like thinkgeek.com for $135. They also make removable blade versions for $165.

There is a pretty good timeline here: http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=8247.0

I believe though that recent releases have brighter blades and better sound as the tech has been tweaked over time.

Here are some ideas of what they are selling for:

Thank you guys for the information. It definitely has helped. We have a rule here that on most items we can buy them as long as we double the stores money. So Im looking at paying around $40, possibly a little less if my manager is in a good mood. As stated I am looking at it as to collect it, but like I also said Im not the biggest Star Wars fan so if I purchase, I do want to at least be able to make my money back if I decide that it is not the route I want to go so I can buy something else more my style. Yet again thank you to those that provided the information and the reference material.:thumbsup

I paid 130 tax included in Canada for the 2010 removable blade version, however give toywiz a look for resale reference pricing.

I thoroughly enjoy my DV Hasbro fx saber it`s a nice display piece only issues I`m finding is I put the blade back in once every two or three months to light it up just for a few mins. last time I ignited it some of the led`s didn't light up. having not moved the blade or hilt from its display position which is roughly 8 feet off the floor and inaccessible to my cats. it`s odd because I can ensure no contact is happening to it between the times I move it.

lite corrosion on the pins, clean them off with alcohol or just insert and remove to clean the pins/socket................

I saw one in a Boscov's the other day for just under $30, but that's the least I've seen it for lately. It's more commonly found in comic shops for about $40-$50 from what I've seen. I should have picked it up but I had my heart set on a Luke Skywalker ROTJ saber for one of my Halloween costumes. Maybe it's still there...:$

I believe you are talking about "Ultimate FX Lightsaber" which is the shorter version for kids. The one discussed here is the "FX lightsaber" which is 1:1 scale for adults and utilizes mostly metal hilts.

If you are finding the adult version for under $50, you should snap it up because as I posted a link to eBay above, even used ones resell much more than that. I resold a broken Anakin FX for parts for $25. And that was the first one they did. It was not even LED because they made that one with an EL blade.

Not sure how I missed that :facepalm
