Master Chief soft parts.

I see a huge amount of work that people are doing going towards the armour...

But I'm very curious as to why it *seems* NO-ONE has made any kind of attempt at an accurate body-suit? Is it because of lack of reference? Or because too much of the "would be" undersuit material is hidden by the armour. (Even then, no-one seems to try and get the stuff that is visible).

Just venting my frustration, and showcasing the beginning of my own remedy.

I'm starting with the neckseal. Easy enough... It's made from a fabric-backed rubber that i found at a materials surplus store. The exact title of the material or manufacturer was un-marked.

The rest of the suit I will be making with a black pleather that resembles the in-game texture... using a variety of techniques. I will be incorporating the armour straps directly into the bodysuit. Once the armour is completed I should be able to simply clip it on and off with backpack clips.

I am doing the bodysuit First.... so that when I make my armour I will be able to "hone" the two in to create a seamless look. The armour should also match the look and texture of the Legendary helmet (as seen) when it's done.

I will not be using pepakura, I will not be sculpting it or molding it. I will be making my base from a mixture of foamies and ABS plastic. I'm confident when the whole thing is done it will look completely accurate. (Comperable to Blue-realm and the work he has done)
This is assuming that my funds continue to come in and I am blessed with enough free time to devote to it

Here is a pic of the neckseal.... the first foray into an accurate undersuit.

I agree, it would be nice to see a good undersuit to go along with the armor. The neck looks good so far. I would be interested to see how this projects unfolds.

I'm sick of waiting Trent... Show me the MONEY!!!!!

That neckseal turned out perfectly... please offer more copies, I'd love to have one.

he he don't yell at ME...I'm not the one making it. I just happen to be related to him. What I've seen so far is 100% spot on and looks absolutely movie quality.

What he said.......I too would love a neck seal

Looking forward to seeing the rest

I have seen only one person who did the top of the undersuit
that came close cannot wait to see what happens here

I CAN NOT wait to see your progress. This has been something on my mind since the first MC costume I ever saw. There's as much detail (if not more) in the "soft parts" design as the armor, and as easy as it is to just put on a plain black body suit, it just doesn't do the design justice. Good luck man!

That looks amazing! I can't wait to see the rest.

Now that there is more Master Chief stuff out there, I might be interested in gettin a cosutme! I will watch this thread with great interest ;)

if you find out what that fabric is called. let us know, please. It sounds a little like it's a headliner fabric for car interiors. But that stuff is usually padding on the back of the fabric not rubber..

I'd love to know though

Back again.

Worked on the actual design for the suit itself.

I'm going to putting Lycra into it at the chest, back, armpits, groin, and knee areas to ensure proper ventilation and added flexibility. ~(seen in black)

Hope yall like it.

Up next it's prototyping :)

Ya know.... at first glance I thought that too... but i'm beginning to consider that it might have been the texture artist' initiative on making 'folds' in the cloth of the suit.
It looks less and less like 'ribbing' to me and more like scrunched up fabric the more i look at it....
I guess the jury is still undecided. i'd like to have some other official reference material though (like some of the actual statues or toys that have been made....)

I had the same thought for my Spartan I'm getting ready to start on. No one ever pays any attention to the undersuit. My thought was to make sculpted parts and cast them in latex and apply them to a dive skin, much like a Batman costume. Then the armor goes over that. Awesome neckseal!
