Mass Effect M35 MAKO

I've been wanting to build this for a while, even though I never played the game (I own it, just haven't gotten very far). I found a set of paper craft drawings and used them to get the shapes. I intend to vacuum form the upper and lower half then model all the vents etc. The wheels will be casts of one I made on a 3D printer (Makerbot 2) from a design I drew on Tinkercad. And that's why I built the roto-casting machine as shown on another thread.

Wow, that looks good.

I am not a gamer myself, but I like that Mass Effect design a lot (probably because I like 6-wheelers in general...)

What scale is it? It seems to be larger than 1/35.

And do you plan to offer (partial) kits? That would be nice.

Cheers!

very nice Gat! where did you come across the paper crafting for this bad boy (girl). have been looking but not yet found...

Thanks :)
Don't know what scale it is cause I don't know what size a MAKO is supposed to be, but the model is 14 inches long, I just picked a size that would be good to work on. Could make the vacuum formed pieces available but I don't know anything about copyright issues, so that would be about it. Maybe some tires too.
Here's the link to the papercraft that I'm using:

Spent today casting and sanding tires. Casting material used was Smooth-On's ONYX fast. Slow would have been better it think, more time in the rotocaster to get even coverage, but I'm happy with the results.

Looks really good so far. I think this is the one vehicle everyone wished had been in the 2nd game instead of the hammerhead.

People need to stop looking at my "to do" list. I keep thinking it could be a fun RC project or BigTrak conversion.

Sent from my Etch A Sketch.

That looks pretty good! I think someone at Starship Modeler was doing a 1/35 kit. Either way I would display it bouncing end over end down an impossibly steep hill to be realistic to the game.

And it's a scale you can pose some figures next to it (not the 6" mass effect ones but smaller ones).

I see someone was watching me drive. I almost always went in a straight line between markers.

So I've gotten back to this project. Built up the details on the top of the hull, as well as re-designing the suspension and 3D printed them. Not a lot of reference for the suspension that I could find and the paper-craft version seemed kind of wimpy. I also built the cockpit interior today.

That looks great! Personally i prefer the Hammerhead but the mako will always have a soft spot for me :) are you going to add any electronics to it? lights or perhaps even RC functionality?

Absolutely lovely! Make all the jokes you want but the first game is the best partly in due of this gravity-defying, bad beast!
