nerds......
You forgot this...

Oh...sounds fun:)

it's alcohol and costumes!! It doesnt get any better! Also I prefer to be labeled as "geek" but either way........I'd rather be a geek/nerd then any other kind of person. I feel no shame at who I am. ;)

i would ask if you need a date, but remember you have a fiance....hopefully, he doesnt choose to go bike riding again ;)

:lol

LOL! Ironically enough he kind of hates going to Jareths ball lol! Im sure I could leave him behind and he'd have no qualms hahahaha! I'm pretty sure he's been spending his time thinking of an excuse for us not to go but I will not be defeated! My geekdom will shine!

Every year we plan on going and then forget about it till the week of and it's always sold out... Have tix gone on sale yet?

yep....they just got released a week or two ago. They always go in tiers of 3, so these are the cheaper ones and then when these tier sells out they'll release another one where they're a bit more expensive and so on.

Several of my friends are prop builders for it. They've been doing it for a long time now. I went back in 2004 or 2005. It's very cool. Lots of theatrics and choreography. One year my friend was a troll and the next year a house. :)

you actually get a lot of.....industry people I guess you could say there.....no big names but lots of people who work behind the scenes or are a part of a prop or costume team of movies. 2 years ago we met a girl who did the/helped with the prosthetics of hellboy 2 and the mask she was wearing was made from the cast of the girl who played Nuala. She also worked on all the dead bodies on 6 feet under. She was great to talk to. And then last year we met a girl who is friends with Gene Roddenberry's son and is/was the assistant to the actor who played Ensign Kim in Star Trek Voyager. Basically everyone who goes really invests a lot of time into their costumes and you get a lot of steampunk there as well.....it's great to go just to look at everyone. And I'm pretty sure there are quite a few single geeks around if you're looking for that kinda scene too lol!

Toby Froud (aka the baby brother from the Labyrinth) has been known to make an appearance every so often too.

I've wanted to go to this for a long time but since I live 3,000 miles away, it just isn't going to happen. :cry

Lol! I couldn't imagine my family telling me "Hey when you were a baby, you used to sit in David Bowie's lap."

I know your pain.....I would love to go to DragonCon but I hate flying and it's a bit of an adventure to try and pack costumes etc to travel with. But if you ever find yourself thinking about visiting CA you should try during the time of the Ball......definitely fun to go at least once.

So you need a mask and a Labyrinth inspired costume. Trolls and creatures are welcome it seems. I can pull off snobby well-dressed pompous diplomat or vile creatures and not much between.

This could be fun.

Maybe the SoCal folks could do a theme together.

I've done X-Men, Elfquest, Starblazers and endless Trek and SW stuff. And endless support on many World-Con level costumes.

What say ya'll?

Ideas for theme?

Lol! Actually you can be anything you want.....so long as you dress up in costume. I vote for well-dressed pompous diplomat with a mask.....you don't see many of those costumes. :)

Themes..........hmmmmmmm..........How about the "Evil League of Evil"?
