Maltese Falcon

I just want to jump in here and tell everyone who hasn't recieved their invoice yet to please check the Junkyard thread. I've made some changes to accomodate the holiday season and am now doing prepays so no one gets stuck with an invoice in the middle of their Xmas shopping.

Cheers,
Oz

PS. Love the pics guys. I totally dig the way you guys are showing off your birds.

Wait for what? These two threads are pretty much concurrent and you don't need to post in the Junkyard to order.

Oh, I know.
I've been following both of "Falcon threads."

I am just waiting for full posting rights:lol

All of this Falcon talk has made me start looking for the movie. It has always been on my "To Do" list.

BTW- I did send an email to order....hehe

Oh yeah, one little funny aside. 8 months before I started this project I bought my wife a new puppy for her birthday. It's a Maltese. Named him Bogey.

It's been a very interesting year.

Well boys & girls, rumor has it that a certain bird is on its way to me. Here's a "teaser shot" to whet everyone's appetite:

Gee - is that GOLD under that enamel? Could THIS be "the real Maltese Falcon"?:love

Dooh, I guess no Kinect for the kids this year.

How am I going to explain to the kids that daddy got chicken instead???

BTW- that weathered Falcon looks awesome.

Okay, so Joe wanted me to do the big reveal and the only way to appreciate this bird is with full sized pics.

The key difference in this bird is subtlety. The entire bird is gilded in gold leaf and then covered by three layers of worn black enamel. Three more layers of paint in various earth tones finish the weathered paint effect before four different shades of dust and grime are pushed into the cracks and creases to finish the illusion of time and travel.

The final result is that you can be inches from it and swear that it's a thousand years old. It's completely convincing as an archeological artifact.

One last thing to point out is that we went through 5 different birds until we finally got the right mix of materials to create a totally realistic gold bird and weathered enamel. So some of those Blackbirds you guys recieved, actually have gold underneath the paint. :lol

Cheers,
Oz

Silly me, I didn't realize that when you click on the pics that it would take you to the full album page and you can flip through them from there.

Go figure. I learnt me something new today.

:angry Son of a I worked on the MK dingus and was not able to get one and now you do this stunning bird and again, I'll miss out. :cry If you ever intend on doing just runs of the Black Bird on order let me know...

Jeff

There will be a second run, immediately on the heels of the first one. You can put in your order now and get in early, and you don't pay until your order is ready to ship. So there is no reason not to get your name on that list now.

Please check the order instructions in the Junkyard for instructions.

Oz, I can't post on the junkyard yet. I just read your post over there about being sick. I just wanted to say - hang tough, get rest and be well!
