Male Poison Ivy Help

This year for Halloween I am doing a male version of Poison Ivy. I really have no ideas as to where to start or how to do this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First thing that comes to mind for me would be a sort of new 52 aquaman, mixed with the Ultimate Namor. Obviously with leaves and foliage instead of fish scales.
I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever used the word "foliage" too....

Someone else did a gender bender Poison Ivy costume, and there are some alternate ideas in the thread too. Hope that helps. (Search function ftw! ;))

My husband has done a male Harley Quinn, and it was a big hit. In my opinion, it's about finding the "iconic" pieces of the costume (in Harley's case we went with the face paint, the red/black costume and diamonds, and the giant hammer) and figuring out what direction you want to take those elements. For Ivy, I'd say you definitely need to have foliage, and probably red hair. Figure out what you want your base "look" to be, and build from there.

Good luck with your costume! I love seeing gender-bends, especially male versions of female characters. They're just not done nearly often enough!

Here's a shot of my husband's costume to give you an idea of what he did (he's the one on the left, obviously!). You don't have to limit yourself to a bodysuit/spandex if you don't want to. Really branch out (lol unintentional pun!) and make the character your own!

I say first off look at many others who have done Ivy (inspiration), and many versions of her like Ame-Comi, the 50's one, and many many more. Choose a style of her you like, or part's of the costume you like. Mash up if you like. Ironman/Poison Ivy mash... Armored Ivy... hmmm, second though maybe I should do that one, or Armored Harley... maybe for Con instead of just Halloween ... Sorry, back to topic... Also look at other ages or genre's, Medevil Ivy, Noir Ivy, or Zombie Ivy. Search engine (or multiple ones) on images is your friend... LOL

Look at the picture of Immerel08 that previous person linked to. Dude did a good job. Other things factor into your costume, such as body type and build. Immerel08 has a pretty well built body and could have gone more a simplistic covering and shown more skin. But he went more military than sexy.

Rule 63 can be fun and also can be scary at times. Seen many well done ones (like Yrlen's hubby's Harley), some fun ones (5 very built hairy guy's did Sailor Moon Scouts (headband, speedo's, boots and gloves)) and seen some really eye bleaching ones.

Bottom line - look for something you really like and want to do, and put your heart into it. If you don't like something it will turn to work and not "feeling" it and you will not have a good time while wearing it.

PLEASE keep in mind Poison Ivy is a seductress, so I would try to incorporate that as much as possible.
