Okay all you smart prop makers out there, I want to make the map from Romancing the Stone. What typ of paper, parchment or anything else should I use???
The last time I saw the movie was years ago, but you can try with parchment or linen paper or cotton paper, just be careful with ink (different papers absorb ink in a different way, remember to do some tests first )
I had to make an old looking document a couple years ago for my companys customer. I went to an art supply store and checked out their hand made paper. Turns out we used the backside of the parer as it was smoother forthe silkscreening of the text and artwork.

This is a bit off the topic, but what do you do that lets you create old looking documents for people? Sounds like a great job...my favorite replicating is old documents and maps, and would love to work out a career of some kind where I could do that for a living.
