Luke ESB saber question

I'm not up to speed on my saber details, so please forgive this probably simple question.

On the Luke ESB saber, the band that's roughly in the middle of the saber body, the band with the calc panel and lever, how is this supposed to rest in orientation to the rest of the saber body?

I've seen many pictures, schematics, etc. and each has it in a different place.

Looking from the d-ring end down the shaft, I've seen it on the left, on the right and on top.

Can someone set me straight?

Well, the MR version has it to the right hand side, like this:

Looks like the majority of Luke ESB sabers have the part on the right, so I'll go with that.
