Lucasfilm to Strike Back March 7th - Lucasfilm vs Andrew Ainsworth

What, so that makes it better or something?

So are you condemning our own Brian Muir for helping as well, or is your condemning one sided and based on ulterior motives while you write free passes for some and condemn others?

Truth is there is a much larger picture, and it has to be considered...

Fact is, LFL has been very generous and gracious to the unlicensed community because they basically kiss his butt when asked, the 501st shares a very good working relationship with LFL... How do you think LFL would react to that community if they flat out told him to **** off when he asked for assistance? It's a rock and a hard place...

Industrial design patents in the US are valid for 14 years from the date granted,in the UK a registered design is protected for 25 years so the protection for such designs is actually greater in the UK.

You are mixing artistic copyright protection with industrial design protection two different beasts.
Artistic protection is valid in the UK for 70 years after the artists death if the identity of the artist is known or 70 years after first publication if unknown.

At the beginning of the lawsuit LFL couldn't have known they'd be deemed industrial design so the assumed copyright length was the 70 plus years. As terryr said they had to sue to protect the copyright.

The Stormtrooper is considered art in the US so it receives much longer copyright protection here (life plus 70) compared to the UK's 25 years.

What, so that makes it better or something?

It means he didn't "squeal". Lucas was already bringing the lawsuit and was just gathering information from various people. AA's actions were the cause of the lawsuit not anyone else's actions.

I understand your previous statement that AA might not have have proceeded in forming this business in the first place if he had a signed formal contract with LFL, but it's hard to say what he would do. We've seen how delusional he is. Playing the "what if" game now is pointless.
