LOTR - One ring

Hi everyone,

Just a few questions about the most famous ring in the movie history...

- What was the movie prop made of ? (the Frodo sized ring)

- What should a replica be made of in order to look right and have the right feel ?

- Are there any propmakers out here who sell screen accurate rings ?

If you have any pictures of your own replicas, I would gladly take a look at them.

Thanks :)

Thanks for the link. Those are simply amazing. :thumbsup To me, the real thing is so much more than a generic round-cornered band with the script on it. The Hansen ring has the subtleties that truly make it The One Ring.

One Ring with movie accurate chain, both from Jens Hansen.

Very cool display, Montagar!

I ordered the silver version because I didn't have the cake for the gold.

It's just as cool and is very comfortable.

I have huge fingers and required a size 14, which wasn't offered on the dropdown menu when I went to order it.

I sent them an e-mail asking them if they could make me a size 14 and the reply that came back was "If we can fit Sauron we should be able to fit you right ?! ;-)". :lol

If you're on the fence about a ring, I'd say this is the one to go with. I don't miss the inscription one bit. It makes it a little more wearable and discreet.

Wow that ring looks amazing... :eek

But if I want the 18ct gold one, I'll have to sell my car :wacko

Did they build the rings for the movie ? Or have I misread something...?

By the way, since the movie ring changes size depending on the person wearing it, what would be the standard "human" size for a display piece ? :confused

my size 13 wedding ring my wife bought 12 years ago is a dead ringer for the one ring !! So you can look around local and find something that is very very close.

Wow they are expensive! Anyone know if they make a gold plated version? Maybe I could afford that :confused

Yes they made the rings for the movie.

From the Jens Hansen web site.

"Q: What size ring was used in the movie when we saw it worn on the neckchain?

A: This was a size 11 ring in 18 carat yellow gold."

That is the size that I used for my display.

I have the silver for a wedding band. It's heavy!
