Looking for good painting tutorials

Hard to paint items that will require flawless paint jobs on all sides. I've painted items with areas that you could hang them from or prop the item up but not anything needing a smooth, painted surface all over. I would assume it requires sanding and feathering the two coats into each other but I've never done it before and would appreciate any input or websites with tutorials on the methods. Thanks.

Thanks Birdie... that site is great for a 101 type of tutorial. Unfortunately it doesn't address what I'm looking for specifically.
