My wife wants to go as Mrs. Lovett from Sweeny Todd for Halloween. Anybody have the foggiest idea where we could look? Thanks,

Like this one?

This is likely to be a contract job. I'm sure there are/will be some crappy mass-produced versions out there, but for anything decent, you may have to visit your local seamstress or one of the lovely board members that feels up to the task.

To start your research, here's a link to a skirt pattern http://trulyvictorian.com/catalog/101.html(lovett's without any understructure of course). I think she's wearing men's high top Stacy Adam's shoes too.

That's it. Thanks for the info. I was hoping one of our talented folks would offer their services. :)

My Wife to be is working on a Mrs. Lovett too is still in the drawing stage we had the pleasure of seeing the costume at FIDM when it was out here in California it has ALOT of small details on it we have found the perfect color fabric and probably will have to hand do the paisley pattern

What is your luck with the paisley application to the fabric? Are you guys doing a block print for this one? It's such a fun and intricate costume!!

If you do happen to find one, but can't work out what the decoration is through the lace on the "collar" of the dress. It's straw! Women used it back in the 19 Century to decorate garments and I believe they used it on this dress too.

I've heard of straw being used- have you found anything that would show how? I've seen museum examples of braided straw trim (especially in bonnets and hats, but sometimes in belts), but I'm assuming that this is done differently? It doesn't look woven/braided.. is it tatted? So many questions!
