Looking for a lunchbox!

Gone but not forgotten.
I've been trying to save a little money by bringing my lunch in here the last week or so, and now I'm thinking of getting a lunchbox.

BUT I figure if I'm going to do it, it might as well be a FUN lunchbox. I'm thinking of converting something for it but I don't know where to begin- Something excitingly chunky with silver paint and Trek graphics would be cool, but also something heavily insulated with lots of stainless steel and radiation stickers would be good too.

Also, in a pinch, a plain old red and white Playmates mini-cooler with an official looking tag reading "HUMAN REMAINS- DO NOT OPEN" would be fun as well. :D

Any other ideas? Case suggestions? Trot 'em on out here.

I'm still partial to my first Lunchbox:

Well, that's pretty cool, but not quite what I was looking for. :p

I'm looking for some kind of specialty case that I could convert to a lunchbox. Some kind of slick, futuristic specialty case for camera parts, gun parts, maybe even some kind of Tape or CD case.

I've got an old tape case somewhere that looked like something from "SeaQuest", but it's a little too big. :(

Just for the heck of it, what kind of lunchbox did Horshak used to have in "Welcome Back Kotter"? Was it a "Planet of the Apes" one?

Wow, I don't know about a lunchbox, that IS a pretty cool thing.

Anyone have any pics of the tape cases they used for Phaser lockers on the various trek series?

Oh man, I had that Kung Fu lunchbox myself as a kid. I still need to pick up another one for my collection.

I you are probably looking for something off the wall and maybe even prop oriented, but Star Wars lunchboxes and old lunchboxes in general are one of my favorite collectables. So I might as well post a link since this topic rarely comes up:

Now one of the oddest lunchboxes I have in my collection is this R2D2 lunch box that breaks apart into separate compartments, the legs come off and they are a spoon and a fork, the top pops up for a little built in thermos. Very cool to me, but way to small for any kind of adult lunch.

Now I do like the idea of the Igloo box with a stick on the side for “Live Organs”

One of these on that security case above might be fun, but I bet any passers-by and Homeland Security might take a pretty dim view of it. :p

I can't find the book it's in, but I saw a Design Company with a cool portfolio box. It was a translucent box with a metal frame. They had interior lighting which made the box glow and they had Bio Hazard or something as a graphic.

They would turn it on before presenting it. I'll try to find a photo because it was really cool.

Hey ...that was my first luchbox too. I actually bought another one at a toy and collectable show a few years ago...now it is deep in storage somewhere. I picked up a cool Batman Returns that looks like a Bomb or Sandtrooper backpack one that I was thinking about turning into something but decided to see if it was worth anything first. The Same style with the Jurasic Park art had a biohazard thermos...

Hey Ken - i didn't know you collected lunch boxes :D I used to be a hardcore LB collector about 14 years ago... had about 300+... but I sold them all :( I'm kinda buying back some of my all time favorite boxes now though (not necessarily the most valuable boxes out there, just my personal favs):

THAT'S pretty cool and it's already a lunchbox. Do they still make those? A little silver and grey paint, a cool decal or two, some superfluous blinkies... :D

That style was out for about one year and disapeared. I used it once in a holloween costume turned around with silver hair spray on it attached to a back pack in a Space Above and Beyond costume.

I used to have all of the Star Wars Luch Boxes even the Rare plastic one for the first movie. I also had a Green Hornet I got at a garage sale for $5. I once came accross a whole bunch of vintage steel boxes at a Rite Aid that they must have found in a warehouse and they sold them for $4 each in mint condition, Including Knight Rider, The Fonz, a bunch of How the West Was Won, the Cyclist and Hardy Boys Mysteries. I kept going back untill I bought them out and sold them to dealers before Ebay was big, This was about 93.

Aren't you geeks afraid to disply ur geekness like that in public?

:p

That Alien VHS box is a bit large. I have one too...

Lets start with how much you're gonna stuff it with?

:D
