Life Size Flintstonemobile - Lots of Pics.

Last weekend was the regional gem and mineral show held at the Washington County Fairgrounds. One of the items there was a Life Size Flintstonemobile. I volunteered to be Fred for a few hours and had a blast.
The steering wheel turns, the radio knobs turn, the rollers turned a little too good as a matter of fact as it kept rolling when people sat in it. I swear more adults than kids wanted to sit in it. It was made by Steve Rutledge, his wife, and help from family members.

Here's the newspaper article about it -

Here are the various Views and details, it really is a solid piece of work -

Lastly, here is a bench that he made, it was very sturdy, solid, and comfortable to sit on.

I'm posting his info, as in this economy he can use all the work he can get, and I'm more than glad to help out.

Very cool, my kids would love to have something like that to climb around in the back yard. I think I may have found a winter project this year! Hard to tell for sure, but are the rollers made out of wood as well?

Ha. Cool.

Good idea to have it at a gem and mineral show.

(Bedrock, Flintstone, Rubble, Mr Slate....)

The numberplate could have been "OUTTA-STONE"

Yes, the rollers are wood, and painted to look like Marble. I'm sure if you Email him, he'd tell you what he used. They rolled really well btw.

Really? Cuz in the close-up pic of the rollers, there are lines fairly clearly visible spiraling up it. I'm pretty sure they were made from column forming tubes like these:

Not that that makes it any worse or less cool. I think it's a brilliant way to get the right size and shape quickly.
