(LF Suggestions) Red Hood Arkham Knight

Hi guys, I'm working on a red hood project from the new Arkham series. I'm planning on doing the full suit later on in a separate thread, but for now i'm just focusing on the jacket. I just need some pointers on how to alter the jacket that i already have to look identical to the one used in the photo.

This is the jacket that I currently own and will be using for this project. I bought it from a seller on eBay (ugh, I know) and I think it looks pretty darn good for this project:

*Slim fit I know but wearing it.. it really fits the profile ;)*

The reference photo that I need the jacket to look like:

and here is a picture of the back, don't know if this is an official figure or altered but it's the best I have for reference.:

(Update: Just did my research and this is the action figure from SDCC)

Ok, here is the hard part... I need.... suggestions.. Du Du DUUUUUNNNNN!!!!

Just need to know what materials you would use for the white leather shoulders and how would you apply them. Also, I was thinking of cutting out a template to trace over for the red bat symbol then use red spray paint...

....which actually looks like red hood might have done the same.

* for those of you who don't know, this is art from the action figure box shown at San Diego Comic Con this year.*

and for the shirt, I think it may be armor (let me know what you think in the comments). So my plan is to make it out of foam like some use for armored costumes and then spray paint the symbol.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

The shirt looks more like fabric pulled over armor, much like a police officer will wear their kevlar vest underneath their uniform. You could make the outer layer just be the foam, but I don't think it will be exactly accurate (and if you don't care about exact accuracy, you're all good!). Be careful which material you choose for the shirt, if you go that route, as spray paint will bleed on some, but not on others.

As for how to modify the jacket, if you don't want to craft something from scratch, I would recommend looking at different kind of sports padding, especially replacement padding. You might be able to just paint that to the right color, then fasten it to the jacket.

yeah, I was thinking about the same thing with the shirt after looking at other threads. I may try a thin sheet of metal with a tight shirt pulled over. I have not thought about a sports padding for the jacket, that's very good advice, thank you. :)

I'm working on a red hood project too and started with a similar plain black leather jacket. For the white patches on the jacket, i've been taking apart white 3 ring binders and using that kinda've plasticy/leather material underneath the clear plastic and cutting out pieces from those. I then glued and sewed the patches onto the jacket which has been working pretty well so far, and it looks fairly accurate. It's pretty inexpensive as well. I'll post some pics later.
