Let's ID Ben's DHARMA parka!

Try contacting Alpha Industries directly, and explain to the gatekeeper that you're trying to identify some historical military clothing ie would like to speak to someone familiar with history of the products / one of the old hands.

Since we're in the holiday season and about to hit the new year aka everybody tries to figure out what they were working on in mid-December, I'd recommend following up with a written request.

Here's their corporate contact info from their website:

GOOD LUCK!

My guess is an olive drab B-9 parka dyed, or an Air Force version of a B-9 parka.

BTW, in the one pic remaining in the first post, he looks thrilled to be wearing it. :)

the pictures I posted show new style zippers

they could of just made the thing up...

Those zipper sliders look like some Finnish made Salmi zippers I've seen used on some Italian and other European clothing. Definitely not a zipper brand or style that the U.S. military has ever used.
Nor does the U.S. military use the Prym style "popper" snaps. They use Scovill/DOT brand black oxide snaps.
I believe it must be a civilian parka.

Hmmm... The plot thickens! So, this may not be a military jacket eh? Thy would make a bit more sense as far as the show is concerned, as the jackets are presumably for the scientists who are experimenting in a frozen climate... That is of course if the wardrobe peeps are that detailed... With that said, does it help that within the show's chronology, we're to believe those jackets would have been from the 70's.

I don't think the jacket is from the 70's. The jumpsuits are not, I don't see them searching out a rare item just for a jacket worn in just a few shots.
This is Disney they do make there own stuff. And it is always done who or what ever is cheaper.

I'll try to provide some super hi res shots from the Blu-ray soon. There is a shot where there are at least a dozen of those jackets hanging in a locker. If it's true what you say about Disney, then maybe the jackets were easy to obtain, and shouldn't be too much harder to locate right?

I swear I must have seen a hundred of those types of jackets in Vegas, but none came close to what's in the show...

Ugh, where to look now?

Ok, "bump". I have had ZERO luck tracking anything close to Ben's Dharka ANYWHERE. Would it even help for me to post up hires stills from the bluray?

Any other suggestions perhaps??

I would love to get a hold of one of these parkas and have searched high and wide for them but have yet to find it. I have considered sending an email to Roland Sanchez (costume designer) asking him for some more information but I can't find an email address for him. Does anyone have he email address?

Looks like the LOST auction may bring us a bit closer to finally IDing this sucker!

Page 12 of the Season 4 PDF shows a nice hires pic of the parka from a different angle..

The starting bid is $200 for the parka and the outfit Ben wore underneath, I don't know if I'd pay over that much for the whole deal, which I'm sure will go for much more at auction...

Do you guys think that If I went out there I could get more info on it? Perhaps I could get a closeup view of the tags, or talk to someone about what brand it may be?

Re: Dharma Jacket from 'Lost'.

There a couple of great down jacket manufacturers on the net that produce a similar parka. "Kanuk" of Montreal and a Norwegian brand called " Amishk", which is sold in Canada @ Blodeau stores. Both parkas are very similar to the "Dharma" jacket. Down jackets from these manufacturers have full large coyote fur trims on hoods sewn on both sides, and not collar type. I hope this will help you. Cheers.

There are a number of similar parkas just as good. Kanuk and Amishk (Blodeau Canada) . These jackets have very thick coyote fur trim sewn on both sides of the hood, not sewn to a collar (flat) like Canada goose. They appear to be fantastic looking parkas.
I hope this of help.
