Hi guys, well as some of you guys know I'm a huge Adventure Time fan. As soon as I saw this sword in the episode "You Made Me", I knew I had to make it.

The proportions change for the sword in every frame (yay for cartoons!) so I had a bit of wiggle room on sizing it, but I did grab a shot here he holds it against his chest sort of and I scaled it roughly according to his arm length from wrist to elbow. I ended up lengthening up the blade a bit because once I saw the scale of it in real life it just looked too short. ( I settled on a full length of roughly 25.5" with a 19" blade)

Anyways, made up some blueprints and transferred them to a thin wood sheet I had. The grip will be wrapped with leather to thicken it up. Then I went to town with my jigsaw.

There will be a left and right grip that will sandwich the center and I'm going to round them considerably to keep the thickness to a comfortable amount. Also one side of the grip will be open with a slot in it because I'm mounting a battery pack and inverter into it so that I can mount EL wire into a grove that will run all the way around the edge of the blade! I'm just waiting on the EL wire and battery pack so that I can double check it's dimensions then I'll cut out the slot in the center and one of the side grips. I'm thinking I might stain the grips instead of painting them for more of a real world version of the sword. The leather wrap will velcro together to cover the slot on the one side.
