Frankly, about the only interesting thing about the show IS the costumes and props. Other than that, it deviated far too much from the books for my taste. It's like the difference between E.E. "Doc" Smith's Lensman novels, and the anime adaptation. If you've never read the books, you might enjoy the TV series for what it is. But if you've read the books and loved them, as is generally the case with fans of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, the only reaction you can really have to the TV series is one of utter disgust. :unsure
Goodkind held off on signing away film production rights for YEARS, because he was sure whoever filmed it would ruin it. Then Sam Raimi came in with his producing partner Rob Tapert, and gave Goodkind a pitch that supposedly demonstrated their love for the books, and showed that they wanted to remain true to the novels. So Goodkind gave them the rights. And then the show premiered... and it's almost nothing like the books. Everything's been changed for NO GOOD REASON. My best friend (who introduced me to the books) and I had both stopped watching the show by the end of season 1. We both gave up on it. I only watched it as long as I did because I like the actress that plays Kahlan. She was the only reason I gave it as much of a chance as I did. :unsure
