Leather Garment Guinea Pigs Needed!

I am planning on offering hand-made leather garments at my clothiers site (http://www.magnoliclothiers.com). I am not intending to compete with the high-end leather jacket companies, but want to offer leather jackets that are affordable and customizable. These will be made in China and will be of a quality comparable to that found at most major department stores (though they will be hand-made and made-to-measure).

At the moment, I'm looking for guinea pigs to help fill up the site. I'm currently making the long black coat from Blade and perhaps Allan Quatermain's vest from LXG. So, if you're interested in a particular design, please e-mail me for details. I will be offering a discount for these prototype jackets. For example, an A2 type bomber jacket will likely be around $150 (shipping included). I will have most leather available including lamb, goat and cow. Feel free to PM or e-mail me with your ideas or any questions.

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Are you planning to make a '1940's adventurer' type jacket, Indy? ;)

PM sent... ;)

As emailed the jacket Redford wears in The Natural....love that jacket and I would happily pay for a version.

If we can gather up some good shots of The Natural jacket, we could certainly do this for you, Dave.

I've always been fond of Long John Silver's (Tim Curry) double-breasted vest in "Muppet Treasure Island." Not in my budget at the moment, but maybe down the road...

I think we could pull that one off. It would be quite a bit of fun replicating that one. When and if you find your pockets getting heavy, drop me a line.

The Firefly coat could be tricky as it has a very long continuous front piece. For long coats, we have to put a seam at the waist, otherwise we end up using too many hides and this puts the price up considerably.

As for the Wolverine jacket, that's something we could look at if someone is interested. From what I understand about it, there are a lot of nuances people have begun to nitpick, which of course makes me a little nervous. But if someone out there is keen, feel free to e-mail or PM me to go over the details.

Kind regards,
Indy

Mals Browncoat from Firefly?
[/b]

Seconded on an inexpensive version of Mal's coat. If you could find a way to hide the seam you'd need on the long part of the front it would be fantastic.

What about the leather V Vest that Anakin wears in Star Wars?

I received a request for Ashe's coat from Crow City of Angels, which is certainly doable as it has a horizontal seam at the waist. Mal's coat from Firefly, on the other hand, has a very long, one-piece front. If I split it at the waist (as with Ashe's coat), then we could do it. I'll be doing this same thing with a Blade coat I'm doing. It's not as bad though, as the Blade coat has a belt that hides the horizontal seam for the most part. I'm estimating these longer coats to be around $250 (shipped).

What vest of Anakin's do you mean?

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Jango's leather vest?
[/b]

I suppose so. That's simply enough to do. Probably would end up costing around $125 (shipped)... perhaps less.

Kind regards,
Indy
