Kong armature photos

Wow, of all the things in his basement he could sell to pay bills (or whatever)...THIS?

Bob, no!

This isn't the Bob Burns armature. Looks like prop has a few original pieces, but most of it was machined well after the fact.

Here's a quick side by side comparison of the Bob Armature versus this one.

I really love the patina on this new head. Also the larger Brow and eye sockets make for a good gorilla skull feel that the Burns head is lacking.

The one in that auction doesn't look like Bob's armature.

For one thing, the bob burns original has a tapered upper arm and legs.
The one in the auction has straight cut tubes.

Also, Bob's has the step section in the jaw rails, and doesn't have a metal rail on the side of his face.
The face is also sculpted slightly different.

Here's the original -

Im guessing the one being auctioned at Christies could be the 22" model used during the city scenes.

The other models (Jungle scenes) were 18"....When Merian Cooper saw the 18" model next to the scaled NY city, he didn't think it looked big enough, so he requested a slightly larger scale.

Im pretty sure the one in the Auction is not Bob's.
