Kirk's Bridge Chair replicas - article in the New York Times??!!?!

Hey, that's actually not a bad article!

I thought they were going to start taking cheap shots when the first two or three guys were described as "unemployed", but I guess that's just a sign of the times.

Actually quite a bit of breadth and depth there, not just the usual head shaking and eye rolling. :)

I think it was done very well in the spirit of collectors and a true, genuine love for Trek without making us out like total and complete losers who will end up dying in their parents basement, overweight, never kissing a girl, in their own puddle of Mountain Dew! :lol

after seeing the first two pics, I don't feel so odd setting around in my underwear wearing my 300 spartan helmet eating cheetos while watching the news :unsure

I declined to be interviewed and mentioned in the article. Just don't think it's a good idea to post in the NY Times that you are bootlegging a licensed item. Although I don't really offer the kit for the base anymore.

Captain Kirk's Chair

In a NY Times piece from March 18, 2009 called "Getting Their Kirk On":

“The original show was the first one I saw,” he said. “It was so idealistic. A lot of us kids wanted to be Captain Kirk — and part of that was the chair.”
