And realized how much I enjoy this movie and it's music. I grew up in Muscle Shoals, Alabama where Wilson Pickett recorded Mustang Sally. The area also produced so many hits from the era of music that the movie was focused on and it really takes me back to my youth. Why, I don't know because back in the 60's the Muscle Shoals area had virtually no musical venues for the public. It was all about the recording studios so I guess as my parents playing the radio had more of an influence on me than I realized at the time.

Anyway, it's been 20 years since the movie's release and apparently most of the original cast reunited for some concerts in Ireland. I would have loved to have been at one.

Loved this movie ever since I first saw it in '91! The soundtrack (both Vol 1 and Vol 2) have featured steadily on my playlist (from Walkman to Discman to Ipod :p) since then. Their "Try A Little Tenderness" performance at the end of the movie still gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. I still find it hard to believe that Andrew Strong was only 16 when they filmed it.

Found this clip of the original cast performing "Mustang Sally" on the Late Late Show: ‪The Commitments 'Mustang Sally' On the Late Late Show 2011.mp4‬‏ - YouTube

Thanks for the video! I love this movie/music so much..

I remember actually finding Andrew's e-mail and talking to him over hotmail or something when i was a teenager, telling him how much I admired him and how great I thought he was in the movie. Then I realized it was a little creepy that I was talking to him, and stopped.. haha.

Still, excellent movie and music!

Buddy of mine is from Ireland, and has given me great insight on the locations of the film. I believe he said that the tall apartment buildings are no longer there.

I was completely shocked when I learned that the lead singer was 16-17 when they made that. No teenager should have a voice that good...
