Jurassic Park Plaque

A few years ago, shortly after JP1 came out, I was into wood working. I typically made Intarsias.
During this same time, I bought my first Dremil.

I made a stencil and had the idea to make a carving of the JP logo.

I was hoping to do something that looked like a fossil being un-earthed...so it looks a little rough on purpose.

The wood used was fairly soft...ashwood or cottonwood, maybe a basswood is what I probably used.

I used a wood burning tool to do all the black areas then i stained it with some walnut or something. Several coats of polyurathane thereafter.

Since I bought some Smooth-On to make some Mego head customs, I think this weekend I am gonna make a mold of this guy and see how it reproduces in resin and somehow add it to my JP prop collection.

Thought I'd share :$

well, successfully made a casting of the wood carving.
Some little brown specs came off and stuck to the silicone, but not too bad. Actually, I poured the resin and demolded, 99% of the brown specs came off onto the resin. The next cast would probably result in much less, and so on and so on.
Anyway, here it is;
