Jurassic Park - Horizon Spitter (Dilophosaurus)

Hey Everyone,

I just finished my first vinyl model, the Horizon Jurassic Park Spitter (Dilophosaur). Finally got my hands on an original Horizon kit unopened. I assembled the kit last year and finally got around to painting and assembling it to its base over the past month or so. The kit was entirely hand painted using Tamiya paints and I used a mud base kit to finish it off. Seams were filled with ApoxieSculpt. It seems some people hate it but it worked really well for me. I also applied a layer of ApoxieSculpt to the base to attach the figure to it. It dried rock hard and I found this to be a better solution than drilling holes into its feet. The mound of ApoxieSculpt that formed around its feet created a nice effect after adding the mud kit.

Starting work on the Velociraptor next!

That's looking great and the idea of fusing the kit to the base using Apoxie Sculpt worked out fine. Looks very realistic how it sinks into the dirt.

I have the Horizon JP kits but never worked on them much beyond trimming excess.

I always thought the Dilophosaurus sculpt was the original raptor sculpt, because, besides the twin crest, the face is very similar to the raptors and not looking like a Dilophosaur at all, which had a very peculiar skull shape towards the snout. Also because it is the correct size for the real raptor, and too small for a dilophosaur.
