Done / Completed John Wick Coins - Round 9 - coins ordered 1/2022

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

i'd say both of your questions are answered with "yes"

most of the time the company sends out a proof coin to look over before they make them... so you have a chance to make any changes before production.
we won't know anything until that coin comes in.
lets cross our fingers they get the gold right...because that's the hardest part.

Quick couple question.
The 4-6 weeks, are those from order to 150 coins produced and delivered to you?
Will you get a sample before hand so we can see some pictures, weight info, what they are made off and so on?

It is my first time, so it might be some stupid questions. And it is not like I want to rush the process, just curious.

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

I'm in rural Salinas, CA. The power has been out for 3 days. :angry

I've been trying to log on here during my break...but then I don't have access to my home computer.

I will post any info they give me when I can get it. That's why I'm not taking money. I want people to be happy. And I'll eat the costs if they can NOT turn out an acceptable product.

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

Yay ! I have power in my home, again !

I updated the wait list.

I've looked over the "Amazon coin" and found it very inaccurate. I think my design is still the best out there. I am hoping this coin company can do it justice.

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

If the waitlist becomes a 3rd run (did I get that right?), then I might up my amount. Peeeeending.

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

I'd like to jump on the wait-list for 5. Possibly 10 if they come out really good.

**Never mind, found the other thread that talks about these coins...
I've got some of the Amazon ones, but I didn't inspect them closely. What didn't you like about them?

The lady side of the Amazon coin is acceptable (olive branch should show more detail) But the Lion side is just very wrong.
1. The "rays" around the outside of the shield and lion are supposed to be cut INTO the coin, but they made them RAISED instead.
2. The "rays" around the outside extend INSIDE....showing through the shield. That is totally incorrect. They shouldn't do that.
3. The "rays" come to a blunt end, when they should taper off to a point.
4. The stomach of the lion is supposed to be level with the surface of the coin, but they made it RAISED, so that the whole body of the lion is at one level. It isn't that way on the prop coin. They didn't even TRY to match the look of the prop coin.

tooon

Some of the john wick coins I have seen on amazon/ebay state they are approximately 28mm in diameter ( 1 and 1/8 inch) these are a larger diameter 38mm (1 and 1/2 inch).

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

A silver dollar is 1.5 inch (38.1mm) and a half dollar is 1.2 inch (30.61 mm) and a quarter is 24.26mm

A 28mm coin would be between a half dollar and a quarter in size. I estimate that 1.5 is the right size, but I've never seen any official information to confirm or deny this. We know the Amazon coin is incorrect in the design on the lion side, so we can not assume that their size is correct either.

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

As a further note to size and thickness, if you decrease the size of the coin to 28mm, that means you would also have to decrease the THICKNESS of the coin to remain the proper perspective ratio. If my coin is 38mm and 2.5mm thick, then a 28mm coin would be 1.84 mm thick. If the raised detail on each side is deducted from the total thickness of the coin, then little room is left for the thickness of the plate that the raised detail is sitting on.

In other words, the Amazon coin may not have the outside rays cut INTO the coin because that would leave the thickness of the base plate TOO THIN.

Thus, they used raised rays instead of engraved rays. It is due to the flaw of making their coin the wrong size.

That's my analysis. :D

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

I for one think it is a good size. I was afraid it would be to thin until I actually found some screengrabs to look at.

I also checked a poker card protector coin I have, it is 40mmx3mm, and the feels and handles like a good size (personally)
But when I compare the poker-coin with the screengrabs, it is very obvious that the poker-coin is thicker.

So I think the 38mmx2.5mm will be perfect.

Here's what they sent me. I think it looks very good indeed.

Re: John Wick - Round 2 - Interest thread

it looks good but it is interesting how they raised the rays on the outside of the line side instead of carving them in and it looks like they did the opposite to the shield so it's carved in instead of popping out......guess you 'd have to be able to rotate the image to see it.

It's definitely a great start, but has some details off. I'm not trying to be a downer here. I just want these to be the best possible! :)

After comparing this artwork with the pic Ultraman managed to get ahold of showing both sides of a screen used coin as well as the presumed production artwork (http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=233445&page=2&p=3560291&viewfull=1#post3560291), it's easy to see the differences.

Comparison 1.JPG

1. The original coins have 100 balls/beads around the perimeter. This new artwork shows 102.
2. The balls/beads are too close to the center and should be moved outward.
3. The EX UNITAE VIRES is too large.
4. The shield on the lion side is pretty much completely symmetric on the original.
5. The ENS CAUSA SUI should be larger.
6. The rays coming from behind the shield on the lion side do not match; location or quantity.

Those are most of the major areas. An overlay really makes it easy to see the differences.
