John Marston from Red Dead Redemption

Hey guys, I was interested in pursuing this character so I figured I'd start here. Does anyone have any advice as to whether the articles of clothing Marston wears are inspired from existing pieces? Or if they'd need to be custom made?

Seems very do-able, the shirt seems as if it was a military shirt at one time, with the sleeves cut off. The undershirt seems to just be a regular khaki shirt. A basic red scarf, and I think you're set!
Btw, I have been playing this game non-stop since it came out, and I really think it may win Game of the Year!

I haven't been able to find any close matches to any of the articles he wears. I think I'm not sure what my search terms should consist of to be honest.

The hat band looks more like eyelettes than conchos. You could possibly just make the band once you find a hat you like.
I think the pants would just be black jeans, the shirt doesn't look very distinctive so I would imagine any khaki button up would do.
The jacket does not look like any style I'm familiar with, so I don't know how help you narrow down your search.

I'd search suttler sites, sites that cater to Civil War re-enactors, they'll have stuff from the right period and some of them will have a good selection of civilian clothes as well as military. Personally, as far as the shirt goes I wouldn't go for a khaki colored shirt as much as an off white/natural/buff colored shirt and weather/age it because to me it looks it's meant to be a shirt that started off much lighter in color and turned dark from a combination of sweat, dirt, dust, and not enough laundering.

Glad to help. We’ve checked with our designers and the best reference for the style of hat Marston wears is a Light Center Crease, Modified-Cattleman. You should be able to track that sucker down at any number of Western outfitter online store sites by doing a bit of light googling.

I dont know if you were still going for the full costume as Marston, but I found this...seems a bit pricey, and does come from China....but it seems accurate:
